Friend across the street had one about as built as could be for a streetable truck. Garbage stock. Beautiful when built. One time his dad was borrowing it and a wheel locked up on his woodchipper (tree guy for a living, 4bt powered not a little rental) and he didn't notice until a mile or so down the road when the guy in the chip truck behind finally got him to pick up the phone lmao. There was some crank or cam sensor that would die like twice a year and was awful to fix without pulling the front axle but other than that, once the engine is built up they are way more truck than they get credit for even built

    How many miles?

I loved my 6.0L which was studded and had the bulletproof EGR cooler on it. I never encountered any of the big mechanical issues with it like a lot of others had... but I was having a lot of electrical problems. it was eating cam, EBP, ICP sensors.

The engine harness had chafed through :homer:

That's how i remembered my neighbors being early on. Wiring was okayish but there was no space in the engine bay so every sensor/solenoid would overheat or just die and was a PITA to get to

My grandpa had a 6.0, and it got used hard. Hauling a camper and towing a boat. It blew up precisely at 100k miles.

So he went out and bought another 6 liter...

Meanwhile my dad's 7.3 has been running fine since 2003

106k. I went clear to VA to buy it. Had 98k on it when I purchased it two years ago. Paid 20k plus tax when I got it home. I over paid but it's the truck I wanted. 8' bed crew cab King ranch. Shes a school bus. I've only replaced a wheel speed sensor and the filters. I have to clean the water sensor off though

I typically see super duties around here on the commercial front. I think it's because they are cheaper than the Chevys
