I understand all of that. And those were the same facts as they were in January and March. And they weren’t forced to cover at a rate that made the stock rocket to the levels people are talking about.

Because the brokers stepped in and literally illegally shut it down. That won't happen this time. All these rule changes are being set in place are to ensure that the money that's inevitably going to need to be paid out is accounted for. For better or worse, it will probably be a more controlled squeeze than the first time. If it went off unchecked in January, the mess would have been catastrophic to the markets. It's still going to be catastrophic, but now people know what's about to happen and can plan for it.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
What killed the first squeeze was RH fucking with everyone's account. A lot of retail had their shares in RH and were locked out of purchasing more. Now everyone has moved (for the most part) out of RH and they are still continuing to buy. That's what gave them time to cover (if they even did).

I believe the second was a gamma squeeze which is option related. I'm not sure how the hedges get out of that one but I believe there was a institutional sell off as well. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

That's why GameStop is awesome. They've been silently supporting redditors with Ape t shirts, cat on moon t shirts, and banana plushies.

The second was supposed to be a gamma squeeze, it just never got enough legs to light the bomb fuse. They dumped millions upon millions of dollars into controlling the price to keep that at bay. But you can only bleed millions of dollars for so long...

When this is all said and done with. I'm going to purchase a PS5 or whatever, build a case for it and display it. I'll never take it out of the box. I'm going to cut out some articles and make a nice homage to GME. Then I will sit around the fire and tell my sons the story of the apes, the wall, and the game that would not stop.

Yesterday I actually bought a shirt for my wife and I. I'm following Mark Cuban's advice, and I want to try to support this company in any way I can, besides buying shares every day lol

I’m happy to be the only one thinking there might be a different outcome possible. Makes me hopeful I’m wrong

There's still a lot of variables, and all of this is untested in the real world. None of us know with 100% certainty what is going to happen. But, it is looking quite good from where I sit.

I’m a cynical person and the part that makes me nervous is all the infusion of emotion and personification in this fiasco.
David v Goliath, taking down the greedy hedgies, the personal attachment to a brand...

It's human nature to be skeptical and cynical. That's what's kept us alive for thousands of years. We've also all been brought up in a world where "it is what it is" is pounded into our heads from when we're kids.

This doesn't feel right, this isn't supposed to happen, this is wrong and it goes against how we all know the world works. Psychologically, it takes a big leap to get on board with it, and you wonder in the back of your mind constantly if you're being led astray by some feverish cult.

Which is why I've spent hours of my time every day since January reading as much as I can trying to find something that tells me I'm wrong. Something other than "Hedge funds have too much money and that's just the way the world works." I don't think that's a valid reason. I can't find anything else...

Why is it negative Nancy to consider other outcomes? You try to figure out all the ways the hedge funds can get out of this before you can truly know that they can’t.

in the back of my mind i keep thinking that hedge funds wont lose unless their power to sell a stock is taken away and all they can do is buy until they are bankrupt.

then i keep thinking that eventually they-or at least SOMEONE- will have to buy every naked share.

I try and figure out other outcomes, of course. But I do my own research and don't post anything negative
