What?! Tape? Hmm, hadn't even thought about tape. I think I still want to make a little bracket, but now I'm going to have to go back out there and look under the hood.

Are you still using the ready lift steering kit? If so how do you like it? Thinking about getting it my self but it's pretty pricey.

Just ordered an Extang Solid Fold. Did you have to mod anything due to your Mobtown bed cap? I have the Relentless version.

Agreed. The sum of all the subtleties and minor details is what sets his truck apart from being just another modded vehicle.

    Yes, I sold my '13 Taco. :'(
    I'm alive everyone lol.

Nothing new to report on the Taco, just been SUPER satisfied as it sits---been that way for a while now. Sadly, this means I don't update the thread that often these days, much less browse TW in general. Maybe it's for my own good, temptation gets crazy sometimes lol.

ANYWAY, hope to be able to knock out some of these questions I've been sleeping on for the last however many months. My bad!

Hopefully purchasing a new house this summer with the lady so priorities have been far removed from anything that has do with vehicles in general---aside from maintenance of course. ;)

Can't say I have man! Been sitting on this 42 Draft Designs can for ages, maybe one day lol. The clutch reservoir presents a slight challenge for mounting it where I IDEALLY want it, but I'll find a crafty spot whenever that time comes. Not holding my breath lol.

I don't have a picture off hand, but I mounted the HID ballasts in spots under the headlights behind the front bumper. I used screws to mount them IIRC. I figured those were best placed where they could be protected for the most part and it doesn't get much better than behind the bumper. Crossing my fingers that I don't have to replace either of them anytime soon, as taking the bumper off isn't something I like doing personally lol. The only other "boxes" I had to mount were the control unit/relays for my VLed Triton switchback turn signals. For those, I used heavy duty 3m double sided tape and literally stuck them on the back of each headlight case. Haven't had a problem ever since.

Yup, still got those suckers on. Tell you what, if you DON'T mind spending that much for solid stock length tie rods, more power to you. The way I see it: essentially I bought these after making some quick cash on a sale of a few stock parts so I said EFF IT and went for it. It's pretty much a plug n play kit from ReadyLift. Of course, make sure to get an alignment IMMEDIATELY after installation. You won't get in the truck and be like "WOAH THESE TIE RODS ARE AWESOME!!!!"....it's mainly removing a weakpoint. On 33" tires, it's not too much of a difference in responsiveness vs stock but yes there is a slight difference in feel on the steering wheel.

There was a slight gap between the seal of the Extang and the top of the tailgate cap. Like BARELY, but enough to probably let water in easily. Super remedial and cheap fix for that---went to the hardware store and picked up some auto door/hatch adhesive weather stripping and put it on the Mobtown cap. It closed that gap nicely.

Coming from you, that's big! Hope you've been good man. Don't ever change your Taco lol.

    ;) Thanks as always.

:D Sometimes people get lost in the sauce and are NEVER just at a happy stopping point when it comes to modding these things. I think establishing a premise is important to modding. You've gotta do it to satisfy YOUR OWN desires first and foremost. I see way too many friends get caught up in trying to impress other people---and for what? Just for compliments? Yeah, those are nice to get, but not at the expense of modding the truck to hell and to a point where you regret some mods. I've always had 1 criteria: keep the mods tasteful, functional, and CLEAN. Sometimes that in itself is more than enough to set someone's build apart from the majority. Nevertheless, I am happy you guys enjoy this build!!! :)

This isn't the end of "modding" for this truck, but it's remained at a great stopping point for me. I'll probably have updates sometime, don't worry!!

I've been good and the truck has been just sitting unused. It's been neglected for the past 2 years but I am starting to put some parts on it. I've always loved how our trucks are built roughly the same. That over the top stock look without venturing off into the LT world. The truck is pretty much done but I'll be adding new headlights, taillights, lighting, rear bumper, and some other things.

I've always been jealous about your Tacoma. It has the Supercharger I've always wanted. I had the money for it numerous times but decided to buy other things. :(

Thanks man. Yeah agree with you 100% with the truck. Similar style, different ENOUGH. Your truck has always been a build I appreciated because you sweat the details like I do. It makes all the difference! ;) But if anything, at least your truck gets driven!! I'm still under 15,000 miles on my odometer, what am I doing with my life!!(it's not my DD lol)

To be honest, when I got my retrofit done on these headlights, I used your headlight pictures(chrome DRL bowls, chrome parking light sections, black everything else out) as exactly what I wanted done color scheme wise haha. SPEAKING OF RETROFITS/CUSTOM LIGHTING, I wanna bounce some ideas off of you sometime. Are you doing LS460 work these days? I wanna try something a little different on the next retrofits, but not sure if it would work....also are you doing custom taillights now!?! I want pics!!! Really solid work on lighting by the way, I follow Rechelon pics pretty closely. :D

Yes, been a WHILE that's for sure. I've been adulting a lot lately. Life priorities/business consume my free time these days, but can't complain...but thanks man! I step away for a few months and now youve got a baller ass roof rack setup with nasty roof LED bar! WTF! lol

Ya gotta let me know when you're around my part of Cali...pics of these trucks side by side would break the internet haha. How's the exhaust setup thus far? Still lovin it????

Color matched rings are LIFE son! :D
