Unfortunately I had to purchase a big adult thing today. So the truck wont be getting anything new for a good long while.

 

But...but...you already have Kings.

 

If it's round and has a gem of any kind on it I say bail.

 

Thought about it but I wanted something that made money and didnt take it. So I did some investing.

Nothing is official yet...but... making plans to head down to mcneils racing to have some +2 bedsides made. Trying to get everything worked out for the big tear down. Not wide enough

Hey man, I just ordered a set of Icon 2.5" coil-overs non resi I plan to have it set around 2.5-3" of lift, Im a little concerned about the ride quality, Ive heard they are pretty harsh, if so do you think if I swapped the coil for a King with a lower rate and extra length to eliminate preload it would help? Any recommendations?

 

In my experience, coil spring length is irrelevant. A 600lb spring takes 600lbs to compress 1 inch and a 650lb spring takes 650lbs to compress 1 inch, etc. You would need more preload with the 600lb springs. You’ll run the risk of coil bind swapping to a longer coil. If you’re concerned about a soft ride I would personally recommend running a King coilover designed for a 14”x600lb. That way you know its right and your not trusting a TW keyboard warrior shock expert. Or contact Icon directly and see what they say.

 

Thanks man! only problem is I just ordered the Icons and I move to college in 23 days, I don't have the funds or time to order kings :/. Especially cause I live on maui and the shipping is ridiculous. Im not sure how they will feel at all, and if i set them to just 2.5" of lift I heard they aren't bad but thats from people with a 4.0, How did you like them?

 

They were ok before I set the preload up high. Im sure youll be happy with them.
Finally had a chance to try out the kings today. Pretty happy with them. Just need some longer/softer bumpstops.
