The SR5 trim allows two options for wheels - dark gray and black.

Stock grey allow wheels are called stock grAy alloy wheels in the U.S. I fear that silly book/movie made for women “Fifty Shades of Grey” have folks taking the British spelling of the color gray.

Mine has the dark grey but my understanding is black is a no cost option.

Yeah the black is no cost but you get whatever they decide when ordering the allocation, silver, dark grey or black depends on the body color.
I had no clue what wheels mine was ordered with being a dealer swap I only was told the body color, engine trans, and accessories on it that were in the sticker price. The sales manager sent me a pic when it came in as I was leaving to pick it up.

Yeah, playing around on Toyota’s website looks like both gray and black are $0 standard. But they auto select one based on exterior color.

If anything this thread made me take a good look at the SR5. Comes out to 35k as a 4x4 DC which isn’t bad. Especially since I’d just be adding new springs, shocks and tires off the lot. In normal times you can prob get that down to 33k pretty easy.

Toyota’s system for building these semi-custom really sucks. Always has. I remember waiting months for my taco in 2006 because I added side air bags.

As you see from the pic I posted. I went with the SR5. I even found a a dealer willing to sell in the 33k range back in July 2020 when it was still hard to get a Tacoma of any kind, even more so any TRD models. It has been very good so far. I don't miss the extra stuff that would have came with the trd. I will probably move up to bigger tires but the wheels can stay. I will probably change the springs and get Bilstien 5100 all around in a year or so too. It's a decent deal but everyone goes for a TRD model and Toyota rakes in the cash on them and their popularity.
