So I have had the Tacoma brand new for 1 1/2 years now, have 18,000 miles in it now. Still have the stock wranglers on it and have noticed a little piece of one of the treads on one of the tires kind of like burned or cut off. Is that normal for these tires ? And would a warranty do anything for it?017088156550154153295459628383856.jpg

I mean, many things could happen to tires. Not sure if warranty would cover that if your not loosing air.

Ok thanks. Just wanted to check, I know these tires are kinda trash for A/Ts anyway.

    Looks normal to me.
I kept mine up to about 40k miles and did some light off roading with them , fire roads and sand dunes out here in the West.

Oh ok, thanks. So basically that's what normal wear looks like for these tires. Sounds good then. When you got to 40k miles with these how did they look? How much tread was left? And yea I'm out here in Southern Utah but not going much off roading just a tad.

Is that a crack next to the melted part on the inner part of the tire? Is so I would have it checked if your driving it on the highway.

They grip pavement well and are lightweight, so more of a general purpose street tire that is happy in dirt and light mud. I've done uneven mud terrain 8 inches deep in 4 hi with them (no grade/hill), and they do great. Decent compromise if you're 99% on pavement and don't do super deep mud.

No I don't think that it is cracked, just the rubber wearing a little.

I doubt if Toyota will warranty the tire.
I had to dump my Firestone OEM's at 15,000 miles they were wore down to 4/32 with rotations every 5k.

Nail in the coffin was another nail in the rear passenger tire within 1 inch of a previous large screw that was patched.

Put a set of Wildpeaks on and wow do I like 'em.

Yea I have been looking at the Wildpeaks and Open Country from Toyo ,also Cooper A/TS. My wife wants me to just wait until these Good years are done and I keep telling her that stock tires aren't the best. I also told her that Toyota or good year both probably won't warranty it either. Women,, never listen

it almost looks like you ran over something that damaged it, and it's not just coming apart.
If you are off roading on rocky surfaces with stock tires, this is going to happen. Of course this will also happen on the street when we hit debris on the highway,,, sucks, but it happens.
You would have to look at your tire warranty included with paperwork, it may cover road hazards in addition to quality problems.
