Stock Air Box Mod?

How do you figure? The hole gets cut right beside the hole that is already in the intake case so that the air is introduced pre-filter.

I would hold off before you do it. The sizes we are using are different than what I posted in the first post. Once I put it on I will post my feedback.

 

I agree. The hole is before the air filter so it won't matter.

Got it in the mail today! Going to install it the first chance I get.

 

other than me I haven't seen anyone else post that they did it
on the 3rd Gen. Definitely gave it slightly better sound and stepping
on the pedal sounds MUCH better, gives it that little growl that
a CAI will give you.

17 HP ... Lol ...the hose clamp holding everything together is good for at least 5 HP even without the air filter.

It's in my garage waiting for me to get a day off to install it. Been working 12s for the last two months straight.

 

Got a little while to install it today! Initial impressions are good, but I don't want to get ahead of myself. Going to run a few tanks of fuel through to truck to see if there is any mileage gains and see if the improved midrange response is real or if it is just a placebo effect.

OK so I've been driving this truck around today, and there is a definite increase in midrange response. I drove it thinking subjectively this morning, and I was pleasantly surprised at how much smoother it drives. She doesn't fall on her face in the 2500-3500 rpm range anymore. You can hear air flowing a lot better in that rpm range as well. I'm going to test the MPG changes over the next few tanks and report back, but the is a definite improvement in driveability!

 

Please keep us updated if the manufacturer (@G Tek Fab )decides to put em up for sale. Im in for one for purchase, or be a tester/reviewer as well! Thanks!

 

Have you noticed changes in the buzzing or vibration through the steering wheel ?

 

Will do. Right now I think he leaning toward starting production, but I'm pretty sure he is waiting on my findings as far as fuel mileage goes.

Honestly, I never noticed it before, so I can't give you a subjective answer to that.

Definitely. The stock intakes have good efficiency from the factory, this just makes it easier to access the air that is available in the fender. Think of it like drinking from two straws instead of just one. Makes it easier to get what you need.
