I took off my intake today and noticed that my air filter was like a clothy kind of material made by denso (toyota). Would the k&n drop in still be worth it?

Yes I think it would be worth it. I just bought a k&N for my truck and I like it. K&N filters can be washed and reused. Some people like them and some don't. I have had good luck with mine so far.
