I sold a T100 (auto) with 130k miles and the original brakes, still in good shape.

My 2009 TRD Sport had original shoes in the rears I believe I replaced the front pads twice and and the rotors turned once.

I don't see how getting 100k on front pads or rotors is possible or likely. Unless youre super light on the pedal and don't tow etc

My old 2017 Tacoma had stock break pads still at 120,xxx km when I traded it in - I think they were in the yellow according to the Toyota service department

My Tacoma's have all done well with brakes, l don't see any reason why mine won't last over 100k.

    A few minor things...
92k miles 3rd gen right now. Tow my boats all the time (18' lund alaskan 90HP, 24' pontoon 125HP, 20' fourwinns bow rider) and I just replaced my front pads and rotors at 75K miles. Cost me $60/rotor and $30/set of pads. Figured why not be on the safer side.

When I took my old rotors off, they were nearly identical in thickness to the new OEM toyota ones.

The Pads were getting to where the service department would call middle of "yellow"

Took the drums apart and they looked dirty but barely worn. I'll keep them original til 150k probably.

A Tacoma (or a 4Runner or even my Tundra) will go 70K on original brakes easily. It's not a stretch to figure several hundred thousand Tacomas will go 100K on their stock brakes.

Alot of guys belly-ache on here about drum brakes, but they honestly last a long time on these trucks.

Some people have really long highway commutes. If you are just cruising along for miles on end you don't need much brake use. Unlike those who just drive around a city or offroad all the time.

I'm at 65k and they said my breaks still have like 40% life left on em.

I've read about people here who only manage like 20k on their breaks. I always wonder if their necks hurt from all the jerking around they have to be doing to wear their breaks out that fast...

    /shrug

I mean I carry around like 700lbs in my bed and over half my miles are from road tripping everywhere from the Sierras to Utah.

I think it just because I pump my breaks a lot. I think the dissipation of heat by letting off them during periods of slowing down prolongs the life.

I just had my front rotors and pads replaced by the dealership under warranty, one of my fronts was severely warped (they said likely due to manufacturing defect) so they just replaced both for me. I was only at 37k miles but that is mostly 90% city stop and go. I'm also due for tires soon too, stock Wranglers
