Thinking about cutting off the last foot or so of my stock exhaust pipe to a few inches before the hanger. Anyone else done this for aesthetics and/or to have one less thing to bang on a rock?

Yep. I cut it so it dumps right at the rear axle.

Cool. Did you DIY or take it to a shop? I'm thinking about just using my sawzall.

Did it myself with a a grinder with a metal cutting tip. Pretty easy. I wouldn't go to a shop and do it cause they'll charge you $$$.

Cool. I figured it would with a metal-cutting blade attached. I love my sawzall!

My old GM s10 had a tailpipe that ended even with the side of the body and about 2" down from the bottom edge of the body. After a few years the paint above started to discolor and a few years more the paint was giving way to panel surface rust. I had to repaint it multiple times.

My Taco tail pipe protrudes well past the body panel - or I would have added an extension tip.

My point being, the fumes and heat from the exhaust needs to really clear any damageable painted, coated part or body paint. I'd also be sure that the composite bed does not get adversely affected as well....
