Stock head unit compatibility

I have a 2006 non JBL head unit, found a 2009 non JBL head unit, wonder if I can swap the two out? I'm just interested in the MP3 ability of the 2009 unit.

 

Last time i checked, non JBL and JBL have different OEM wiring adapter, you can't just plug and play to make it work.

 

Understood, I have a 2006 Non JBL HU and I'm looking to swap with a 2009 NON JBL HU.

 

Anyone know where I can find this out? Someone from another board said that some owners were having problems with their 2009 HU and Toyota were replacing them with 2008 model while theirs were being repaired/replaced....?

 

I'd be very wary of that 2009 non-JBL h/u. Essentially every one of them is defective.

I agreed with poster above, i went with aftermarket HU instead. I have a non-JBL 6 disc changer and it crapped too. After a long debate, i decided $100 of OEM changer is another $100 of waste and there's not much SQ you can get out of OEM unit.

 

Just FYI... I swapped out my 2006 Stock NON JBL HU for a 2010 NON JBL HU and it does in fact plug and play. The only thing I am missing is the use of the AUX, however I think all I need is the cable (which I'll get from the stealership). Radio options also have a "ASL" which I assume is the Auto Sound Level which turns the volume up if the cabin noise goes up (like having windows down).

 

So a non-jbl radio is different from a jbl radio. Found this out today. I didn't know. The passenger rear side is the same. But the driver is different. The jbl radio has one harness and the non-jbl has two.

My question is, is there a way to get a jbl to with with a non-jbl truck? Maybe some sort of plug and play harness? Info asap is appreciated!

Would it be possible to wire an amp in for the jbl stereo in a truck with the non jbl stereo?! I have some one who has a jbl radio for cheap.

 

Someone said to me that I have a six disc JBL unit with the sub in the back, but the HU is a panasonic. Actually the dealer said it was a panasonic HU. I don't know what to think. It's a 2010 trd sport 4x4 AC. Is this true? I am putting in a Pioneer AVH-P3200BT next week.

 

Can you expand on this scion unit? It is plug and play? Fits?
