Hey guys, I just got a 2021 taco, but no one has been able to answer my question about the stock head unit radio...

Im installing a whole new speaker/subwoofer system and would like to change out the head unit as well, but I’m not sure what Toyota features I would lose...

I want to know two main things, 1) if changing out the stock head unit, will I lose the Toyota connected services, (like remote start?)

    2) if the head unit plays a role in “truck updates” from Toyota. I’m not sure if the head unit manages potential onboard data updates or vehicle drivability updates, or updates to the digital screen in between the tachometer and speedometer? Or any drivability tuning...right now I’m under the impression that the updates are only for the usability of the stock head unit.

anyone who has a 3rd gen Tacoma who has swapped out the stereo, can you weigh in on this?
