I need a picture of a stock rear bumper and hitch so I can photoshop it to see if my idea will work to my liking. I would like the truck centered in the camera lens and level with the bed floor. Thank you!

I'm trying to avoid reinstalling my bumper, taking a picture, and immediately removing the rear bumper.

    Uh oh, lol.
Basically making the stock bumper and hitch into a higher clearance deal. I like several existing off road bumpers. I just like to be a little different is all.

My favorite aftermarket bumper but still not exactly what I'm thinking I want.

Looks familiar! Yes I love my Pelfreybilt Aluminum. I had to hunt for years to get them but boy are they awesome!

    A few more inches higher.20191115_001728.jpg

This was my general idea, no idea if it'll work yet. I'm going to take some measurements tomorrow. I can see the bottoms of the fenders, which I'm ok with, but the exhaust pipe is too low. Plus it's getting a body lift so ??? lol

I can understand the low budget, wanna be different concept, but the factory bumper is barely strong enough to even be considered a bumper. Cutting it down like that is gonna make it so weak that if you bump it with your knee, it's gonna be into the bedside. Sorry, I'm not thriled with your idea.

The hitch protects the flimsy factory bumper from getting torn off or bent into the body...if you think there's a chance you're going to be dragging it offroad I wouldn't bother modifying it.

I know. I'm not just going to cut it and leave it, I'll beef it up. I'll need to beat the dents out, bondo, and paint it black as well. I'm unsure if I'll roll the cut edge or square it off. No worries as I appreciate your input Mudinfun.

I seriously doubt it'll ever get close to dragging with me at the wheel. Thank you for the reply.

Progress or regress, I'm not sure which yet.

I like being a little different than the crowd, I like doing stuff myself, and Tacomas have more curves than Pamela Anderson in her prime. Plate bumpers are typically flat with sharp edges. I'm thinking outside of the box is all, time and a little effort will tell.

I can't fab/weld, so I just enjoy watching folks that do. Doesn't matter if it's my cup o tea or not :D

I've been welding for 42 years and my welds look horrible, lol. But I've never known one of my welds to break so there's that. About 5 months ago I sold almost all of my tools, including my 3 welders.
