So I currently have a 2013 regular cab with a camper shell, baja roof rack, and custom wooden sleeping platform with drawers, as you can imagine my stock springs are sagging pretty bad. All in all it's probably around 350 lbs that I carry around daily.

After doing some research it looks like I'm going to go with OME heavy duty leaf springs to correct the sagging and mitigate all that extra weight.

My question is, can I install the OME HD springs and not have to replace my stock shocks right away? I understand that there are some potential issues to keeping the shocks like maxing them out going over rough roads and bumps but since I have all that extra weight I thought maybe it wont be such a problem for me in the short term?

    Thanks for the input.

rear shocks are cheap $215 a pair. get the Nitrochargers from OME. They are made to perform not to look good at Starbucks. I Love tge Ride of mine

No can do. You'll need extended length shocks to pair with the Dakars like the RCD/Bilstein B110's (5100's). The 4600's don't have enough travel.

That is incorrect information. It is designed for the HD Dakar

By the way Mr know it all. OME nitrochargers are not Bilstein 4600s

Haha wow man it's actually a pretty simple concept that you clearly haven't spent the time to understand. You over extend the OEM shocks because of the added ride height from the Dakars, thus needing to replace them at a much sooner rate than just installing extended length shocks like the B110's or 90021's while you have the rear suspension taken apart.

I never said they were. Again, you're not informed. The Bilstein 4600's are OEM on the TRD line and are often compared to the 5100's.

I suggest you spend some time in the suspension sub-forum and stop being a keyboard commando.

To the O/P, yes you can run your oem shocks! You will run a chance of over extending them, possibly tearing them apart, but they will work! Are there better options out there that will work way better with your new spring packs, absolutely! I'm running Dakars w/ toytec shocks & I am very happy with the ride & there ability to handle extra weight! Good luck!

You need to understand OME is not OEM! OME (old man emu) is the company that has engineered and manufactured the Dakar HD Spring packs. I think you mistakenly thought I meant OEM (ORIGINALEQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER) not OME (OLD MAN EMU) http://www.oldmanemu.com.au/

Thanks for the help dudes, I ended up ordering OME nitrochargers since they're recommended with the HD springs and they didn't break the bank either. Now, will I need extended break lines too?

Nope, the shocks will hit their limit before extending far enough to warrant brake lines. I'm running the OME HD pack and OME shocks with no issues on stock lines. Before ordering shims or installing your pack, take some driveline measurements so you have a baseline. Theres a thread on how and what to measure, just search driveline vibrations and it'll probably be the first one to pop up.

No I certainly didn't. I fucking run OME springs and Dakars you idiot. I meant OEM. Again, you don't know suspension.

He's asking about extended brake lines and you tell him to order 3 degree shims??? Are you hearing yourself?

OP: to answer your question, yes, you should get the extended brake lines for piece of mind. You'll want that cable droop there for the scenarios when you're at maximum travel. Also, do NOT spend money on shims before driving post-leaf pack install. You may not even need them. But in the case that you do have the vibes, be sure to measure your drive-line angles as @rollin904 suggested in order to determine which degree shims you need. 3 degrees may or may not be what you need to eliminate the vibrations you might experience.

I ran oem shocks for a couple of weeks and then put on B110’s as they give you a couple more inches of droop over the nitro chargers. BUT you should run extended brake lines w B110’s but not needed w nitros.

Ya I'm assuming the rear will get a substantial lift even with the excess weight, I have some toytec boss adjustable coil overs with SPC upper control arms. The coil overs are currently at their lowest setting so I will have them adjusted accordingly, hopefully that will be enough to level the truck.
