Anyone have the hub to fender measurement for a stock first gen? I have an adjustable 0-3in lift on my taco via all pro adjustable coil overs and I blew the boot on one of my brand new cv boots in less than 2000 miles. I feel like im too high, but don't know if I am or not. I have looked at the threads and still dont feel i have a concrete answer. Also i do have a diff drop installed. Im try to get to a 3 in lift based off the stock height so i dont blow another boot.
    thanks all!

got a pic of your CV angle? I think all pro (I'm sure others do too) make a "high angle" CV boot. Might also call All Pro and see if they can give you a measurement for where the coil adjuster should be for a max 3".

I used to have a couple pics with a tape measure I took before I installed my 5100s many moons and 3 phones ago, but can't for the life of me find them.

Here you can kinda see my CV angle, but this is only set to like 2" or maybe less. Like you, I really don't have a clue what the exact "lift" is. I have a diff drop, too.

I was planning on doing the boot slide mod, but i wanted to make sure i address the possible root of the issue first

My measurements are 24 3/4 on both sides, is that pretty standard for those running 3 in lifts? Any eibach coilover guys out there that can tell me what they are running? (or anyone that knows they have a 3 in lift and aren't blowing CVs)

Don't have the truck with me, but when I get home I'll try to remember to take some measurements.

I don't know my actual lift, but I do have the stock boots, and don't have an issue with blowing them.

stock height from the ground to the fender is 35 inches if that helps.

Thanks man I would appreciate that!

Are you running coilovers or the bilstein 5100?

Technically, we're all running coilovers... even stock.

But I replaced my stock ones with 5100s 6 or 7 years ago. Then a year ago I upgraded to King extended travel coilovers. Even though I'm only sitting at maybe 2" or less of lift, I still wanted the diff drop to help account for the extra inch of droop travel I get.

Still have my 5100's in the back though. Blew my budget on the Kings and UCAs, lol

depends on tire size, which is why the hub to fender is a better measurement to look for.

Same lol even "cheaper" adjustable coilovers and after market UCAs are not "cheap" lol

From what I was told, anything higher than 2" requires an adjustable UCA.

Not necessarily. The full OME kit is 2.5" and does not come with UCAs. 2.5" is right on the cusp of needing UCAs, though. Sometimes prior damage/other factors and people can't get it aligned, so in those cases, UCAs should help.

You also don't need adjustable ones, basically any aftermarket UCA has a slightly different geometry that should get you better alignment numbers if you aren't able to get it aligned with the stock ones.

Yea and see that is another reason why I want to know if I am at like 4 inches instead of three. I have all pro UCAs too and I still can't get it fully aligned lol

    Couple things:

First - if you're running a 3" lift, you're right on the max edge of what the stock geometry allows, and so you're going to be much more likely to tear boots than if you run say a 2" lift like @jbrandt. That last inch puts a lot of strain on the system, so many don't go up that final inch. Plus, you're effectively losing downtravel and stiffening the ride at that point, so depending on how you use the truck, that might be something to think about.

As far as stock vs. lifted numbers, here were mine after I installed a Toytec BOSS kit (scroll to the bottom). The measurements you want to compare to are "center of wheel to bottom of fender" since those are unaffected by tire size. The actual coilovers you install don't matter - they all do the same thing - so whether it's Toytec (which uses Eibach springs and struts) or your 5100+Eibach combo - doesn't matter.

You'll note that I only went up 2 1/2" in the front since the whole idea was that I was installing a lift just before putting a steel bumper, sliders, and full set of skids on the truck. With those installed, it brought the lift back down to 1 7/8" or so.

So, my recommendation - if you're looking to stop blowing boots - is to lower the lift. Go 2" instead of 3" and you'll be much better off. Or, if you must have the lift, get some Napa (or similar) axles, and use the lifetime warranty when the boots blow (though honestly, that's taking advantage of the situation).

Mine was around 34.75"-35" too if I rememeber corectley, and thats with the CV's sitting totally flat. Im at about 37" now and the CV's have a very slight angle, not enough for the fins to rub.

Luckily thinking that this may be an issue, I did buy the lifetime warranty CVS from NAPA. Do you know if the Toytec boss coilovers and the all pros have the same adjustment settings of 1/4 in for every 1/2 of lift you want to acheive? Also what is your measurement from fender to center hub currently?

Yeah that looked like way too much in your pic. That upper ball joint looks like it wants to die.
