Anyone have any stock tacomas that they take off road?

Or take off road with little modifications, maybe just new tires with out lifts and other stuff?

How bad do you need modifications?

    LET'S SEE THEM!!

90% of tigs off-road are stock rigs. Unless you're running some difficult stuff at moab very little has been done to most. And most of what is done is enough lift to fit 31's. If you're going to be a 'serious' off-roader, that's where $$$ comes into play.

I've been off roading my stock Tacoma for nearly 180,000 miles now.

    Very capable as is.

And yes, it's still the original suspension, shocks and all.

You can run 32's on stock. You didn't mean your shocks have 180,000 on them did you?

    I agree.

I have an entire new suspension sitting in the middle of my kitchen/dining room.

I had a '94 truck and an '00 Taco that I drove through creeks and rivers, over mountains, and generally raised hell in from the southeast US to California and British Columbia and back with stock set-ups other than swapping the front shocks on the '00 (no lift). The first truck gave me 210k miles before I sold it, and the second one over 250k before it was totaled. Stock Tacos can get it done off road, even without a TRD.

been puttin my basically stock taco through her paces off road just about every weekend this spring. Actually just got back from an adventure, ended up gettin myself in quite the predicament today took about 3 hours to get out. Thank god for come-a-longs and handyman jacks! Screw all that fancy stuff, like high dollar suspensions, lockers and that jazz, after today I think the next mod for my taco will be a winch. Woulda been out in a jiffy if even one of the vehicles in the group had one.

Rear locker is nice man, I have to say. Might have been out in a jiffy if you had one. :)

My current truck is a '90 on 31's and only 2" of lift. I put that through the ringer. previously I had a '10 that was stock with 32's. Also put that through the ringer (was a little more gentle though as she was still so new.

oh, locker is still on the list, it just got bumped down a spot or two. It was a very soupy situation, don't think the locker woulda been much help on that particular occasion.

Before I got the TX I had a 2wd access cab it was an 05and brought many places. Just about everywhere i went if I could I would try and offroad in it.
Lol the only problem with that was is I got stux just about everytime. We always had someone who can help. But I guess my point is have fun just make sure equipped for the situation and make sure you have all terrain tires too. Made that mistake to.
    Ahh adventures.

The view down. Climbed it it 2wd lo. The only part that needed 4wd was the ledge in the lower right (red arrow). Blue arrow points to the wife for scale.
