Hi. Got a 2012 DC TX Pro. Just wondering if anyone knows what the stock tint is on the back window and rear window.

Thinking of having the front side windows tinted at 50% but a local shop is quoting $149 for that. Seems steep for just two windows.

So thinking of doing it myself also. that shop uses a 3M tint. I assume that's a good tint??

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
Stock rears are around 27%, IIRC. i'm doing a 35% up front when it cools off.

149$ is way too much. I paid that much to have my wife's entire car tinted, including the front windshield

$149 isnt a bad price, you might be able to shop around and get it cheaper but if its a reputable shop then thats average. I paid around that and tinted my fronts 27%. Just dont use windex on the tinted windows, it will discolor it purple after a while.

    It is a reputable shop.

Is it really 27% for the rear and back windows?

I had a 35% put on mine and it's a very close match. Used "top of the line" film and came to my work to install. $65 (I gave an extra $10 for a tip). They had cheap film availiable too which would have been $45 installed.

I did 35% up front and am happy it is a little lighter but I didn't want it too dark for night driving. I paid $100 from a good shop with a lifetime warranty and I live in the land of the super expensive. I think you should be able to get a good job done for less than $149.

35% up front for me, 75 bucks with a 5 dollar tip. Lifetime warranty, I think it was solargard tint.

I wouldnt do it yourself. Ive seen people that tried it and it looked like crap. If it was a 1995 honda civic thats one thing but on a 2012 tacoma I would want it done right.

Yep, look at my sig. my fronts are 27% and match the rears very well. The shop said to me that the rears factory are 20% but mine all match pretty well. I also went with solarguard, the shop i went through recommended it over the 3M tint. I have to also tell you that the place I went to used a plotter cutter to cut the tint and then install it. This means a razor blade never touches your windows. It cuts the tint on what looks like a printer and then they install it. This also limits the gap at the edge of the window.

27% rear. Front match has to be darker, usually 20%, because the light let in by the windshield backlights the front windows much more, making them appear lighter from outside the truck even if they have the same tint level.

Reasonable price will depend on area. I got mine done for $70 in Burlington NC by an excellent shop. If you live in New York or LA, prepare to pay twice that.

This is very important. Check ahead of time. If they're hand cutting your tint, find another shop.

mine were done at 24% (what I was told by the shop) it was machine cut and cost around $80. The match is very close.

I live in MN so laws are 50% here. One shop won't legally go any lower. Which I understand.

So would a 50% front side windows look dumb as the rear and back windows are 20% per above posts?? I suppose 50% is better then 100% but also don't want it to looked so mismatched either.

If it is helpful, here is my truck (AC, granted) with 50% on the front.

    Cost me 75 bucks.

If I had it to do over again, I would have gone 35%. 20% is too dark, I think, especially up north where we get like 4 hours of sunlight in the winter.

That said, the tint is the about the same all the way around from the inside, which is what I asked for.

I went 20% with my White 2012, from the inside you can tell the tint is a little different but from the outside it matches the rear windows almost perfectly.
