I think it’s been asked many times if 33s will rub while doing actual off roading & rock crawling? I don’t care if they rub in reverse at full lock..I want to know if they rub at full flex. Don’t know why so many folks put big tires on their truck just for looks, but don’t actually off road

Yours may rub a little more due to the listed dimensions. That tire is listed at 11.7" wide where others are 11.2-11.5 depending on brand. Nice looking truck though! Can anyone post an all stock pro with the Cooper STT's?

Has anyone run or thought about running 255/85R16 on the TRD wheels on a stock TRDPRO? They'd actually be a little bit more narrow than 265/70, 10" vs 10.4", but it'd definitely clear the UCAs. And you'd get a 33.1" diameter. I've my Tacoma for almost a whole week now so I feel it's past time I started messing up a perfectly good stock truck. I do not, however, want deal with any rubbing or modifications, did way too much of that getting 35"s to fit under my 3rd gen 4runner.

I’m new to the forum and I was reading over the discussion about running 285s on a stock TRD Pro without rubbing issues. My understanding is that the only difference between the Pro trim and OR trim is a different wheel set and an inch lift (which I thought came from the shocks). Is it possible just to do a shock upgrade and switch to pro wheels to run larger tires or is there something else on the Pro’s suspension set up that is letting you guys run 285s?

Thanks! I was just curious and like the look. I’m still waiting for my truck to be built so I won’t need any for awhile.

    Welcome to the forum!

The Pro's and the Off Road are the same underneath, except as you noted; wheel offset and 1" higher in the front (Fox coilovers on the Pro vs Bilstein on the Off Road).

IMO, It's not quite as simple as adding a lift and getting different wheels.
In reading a plethora of posts over the last few years, it almost seems like some get lucky and have no issues, while some have to cut fender liners, cab mounts, etc. in order for 285's to work.

I have a 2" lift with aftermarket upper control arms and run 265/75/16's, no rubbing. I really want to run 33's, but I'll probably go with skinny 33's (255/85/16's). From what I've read, I believe this would present the fewest issues (for me at least).

    Cheers

Thanks for the info. I’m leaning toward what you’re running now to avoid problems with rubbing. My buddy has a 4 Runner with a similar lift setup to what you have on the Tacoma and he has 275/70/17 and he said he feels like that’s as much as you can go without running into issues or extensive modifications

really wish they made a 275/75/16 that would be perfect.
