    How's it going everyone?
I ovtuned my 19 tacoma a couple years ago to a 91 tune. Was wondering if anyone knows how to reset my ecu so I can revert back to stock so I can pump 87 again . Just curious if you can go back easy or will need to get it flashed.

    Thanks

Well, I guess that depends on how easy is defined. You have to get flashed back to stock just like the normal tune process to get flashed to the tune. There is no reset you can do for the ECM to just put itself back to stock.

If you can do it yourself, then you’ll follow the same process and just need to locate the stock files. The stock files should be logged away in your VF Tuner folder on your computer. I think it’s inside C:/user/x86/VF Tuner or something like that. Once you find that, dig into Toyota, Tacoma, 3.5L, find the stock tune file for your ECU ID, and flash that file through the normal flash process.

There have been updates to the stock files for some of the older trucks. Do a bit of research to make sure you don’t have an ECU ID that has one of the updated files. The updated files aren’t showing up in everyone’s VF tuner folder automatically, so you have to get them from the forum. I’ve attached the zip file for that. This only applies if your ECU ID matches any of the files in the folder I attached.

Gotcha. In that case you’ll need to find someone to help you out. Not sure where you’re located and I am not an actual tuner, but I am a DIYer and I believe that anyone with VF Tuner can just plug in and flash you back to stock since the stock files are not vin locked. Maybe find someone nearby from here and offer them a case of beer or something to help you out, idk. Anywhere near Dallas by chance?

Thanks for the help I'm out of socal just have to look around unfortunately guy that flashed it lives 3 hours away. Debating to go back to stock truck accelerates well but shifting is all over the place still sometimes. Probab might be even worse if switch back to stock.

I would recommend you have a KD Max tuner change to their latest tune. It runs and shifts great on 87 gas. Just search on this forum for their tuner map. Probably about $500.

Check out https://toyotatuningnetwork.com/locations to find your local OTT tuner. They can flash it back to stock or upgrade you to OTT which is what I would recommend.
