This guy was probly one of the people sounding the alarm about guns and ammo when Obama was elected. The ignorant, paranoid, neo-nazis in this country-aka Glenn Beck's audience- were terrified that Obama was going make guns and ammo un-affordable. In their histeria, they made a run on ammo, driving up the demand, and thus the price. So these paranoid assholes made the ammo price scare a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The irony of his post is that if the Beck nation gets scared enough to buy up all the beanie weanies and pork rinds at their local Piggly Wiggly, they could, in effect, cause the price of food to go up.

What this idiot doesn't realize is that food prices are regulated (indirectly) by the Federal government. Farming in this country (corn, grain, milk, beef, etc.) relies on government subsidies. These subsidies keep prices at an affordable level, and if gas were to drive up the food prices and necessitate further subsidies to stabilize prices, the government would surely intervene to lower the price of the food- by lowering gas prices.

And yes, the government controls gas prices (to an extent), as we pay a LOT of money in taxes on each gallon of gas. The lowering of the gas tax, combined with the release of strategic reserves could drop fuel prices significantly. Hell, just threatening to use our reserves would convince OPEC nations to lower the price of imports.

In summation, you, the OP, are in IDIOT :smack:
