It depends why you bought your truck. If you aren't off roading, and planning on selling it in a few years for something new, just leave it alone.

I plan on running it off road and keeping mine 'til it dies so resale is of no concern for me.

And bumpers, armor, and more await.

sometimes the right dealers will still give good money for moded trucks friend of mine traded in 02 tacoma for 11 grand only had 70k on it but it had had the core support ripped out and replaced no cond no radio no bezel for the radio with 38.5 inch boggers that you couldnt even hardly turn the truck around they rubbed so bad

Did you buy it to resell it? doubt it. It's going to lose value whether it's modd'd or not. Might as well have fun with it.

    BINGO!

Mod it to make it yours, if you need to sale it later deal with that then. There will be lots of people willing to buy it because they are too damn lazy to do the mods themself.

My tacoma is slightly modded. Arb and larger tires. Heavy trail duty where body damage is involved is where my landcruser comes into play.

but, i will have to admit, its been real hard not to mod the tacoma. Only time will tell. A 80 series landcruiser's locked solid front axle would look pretty good upfront on the tacoma....

Here is what i do and it has worked out ery well for me with all of my previous vehicles.

I mod them, but i try to buy my parts used when i find good deals on the forums and ebay. I also keep all my stock parts and when i sell the vehicle i make it stock again. Then i sell the parts, and since i already bought most of them used (and most importantly at a good price) i can sell them for what i have into them or more.

sadly, I've only put Husky Liners in it thus far - tend to blow all my cash on my bikes and guitars.
I believe that some mild mods ( grill / window tint / wheels and tires / stereo...etc. ) can HELP you sell a truck to an individual, but you'll probably take it in the shorts on trade value.......I had a '90 Toyota 4x4 that I fitted with wheels/31" tires/2" body lift back when I was still living at home and had the money to do so -- when I traded it, I didn't get any extra value for the mods I'd done........but like everyone else is sayin', it's your truck so personalize to your tastes.

Stock is extremely boring. People told me my truck looked like an old man vehicle. It doesn't anymore. Moding gives me the chance to express myself. I don't buy it to resell, I buy it to consume.

I was gonna keep my truck stock. Now a year later I already have a few thousand into it. Only live once, might as well have your truck as you like it. Besides, as mentioned, keep your parts, you can always go back and sell them later.

Plans for my truck is to drive it till the wheels fall off. Then when they do (is when the fun starts). I have zero plans to sell. I plan on a few mods a year and one day it will be only for fun.

Voted for extreme although I don't feel the usual 3 inch lift kit should be considered extreme.

I don't quite think a bumper is extreme. SAS of a IFS that's when you may be entering the 'extreme' area.

first of all do whatever you want and enjoy what you do.

one of the recent vehicles I sold was lifted 4.5 (full kit, coils, leaf pack, no body lift), re-geared, rear disk brake conversion, rear locker installed, fenders cut out, OME shocks and SS installed, custom drive shaft, new bumpers, big ass BFGs, etc, etc, etc, also did new head unit, speakers, Sirius, etc. etc. etc.

after that, it was a gas hog and a bit unmanageable at freeway speeds (ok , maybe I should have done a long arm, but damn) i only used it to wheel and when the weather sucked, but mud tires and a mechanical locker suck major ass on wet pavement.

needless to say, even though it was low miles, i lost lots of $ when I sold it

so for me, there is a definite tipping point in there for mods, once you cross it, your resale is toasted and you've got to go all in on $$$

even with all that cash in it, i was always wanting to do more to it, even the morning i sold it I was thinking I could swap the front axle out, get a long arm kit on, and it would be livable. but that would lead to even bigger tires, etc. etc. etc.

so yeah, do whatever makes you smile

I've only done a few light mods thus far... but the plan is to do a lift with wheels and tires. Current mods include; Ipod adapter, canopy, nerf bar step rails... and getting ready to do a billet grill of some sort.
