thanx for the response doing some research ive found that on the 4 cylinder using the 245/75/16 Defender a few people noted a loss of 1 mpg I guess due to the few extra pounds of weight a more so because of tread width not a great loss for the tires capability. im also looking at the Firestone destination LE2 in 245/75 which is reviews on tirerack is right there with the defender supposedly and weighs only 31pds in BSW, the numbers add up for the LE2 on my 2.7l but im not sure about its quality compared to a Michelin tire.

It's hard to beat the Defender in terms of quality.

Firestone tires are owned by Bridgestone tires now and are very affordable which is good but im pretty sure they aren't close to a Michelin tire in quality and everyday driver usage longevity, handling. in my case its either the LE2 or Defender this are top rated tires, the LE2 fits all the criteria as far as cost, weight numbers, the Defender has the upper hand in flat out reputation and overall customer satisfaction but are a little too heavy and wide tread which cuts performance on a 2.7l automatic truck, I use the truck as a daily driver and work where I can put 80+ miles a day in all weather conditions.

I have a brand new set of Defenders... They are only special in the rain... That is it...

Honestly, the kevlar stock tires were a better ride and better all round traction...

The defenders are my road tire... They are awesome road tires for rain.. But that about it..

In my experience, the Kevlar were noisier than the Defenders. But yes, on pavement, wet or dry, the Defenders are much better than the Good Year Kevlar.
