    More rake will make it easier, not harder, to get more positive caster.

    Rake lifts the rear up, tilting the front upper ball joints forward, reducing caster.

    I never measured my stock length arms, but I have the most caster at full bump and the least caster at full droop. Raising the rear would further load the front (more bump)...which in turn would increase caster.

    You can see here at full droop how the UCA uniball pushes forward and has the least amount of caster.



    Doesn't take as much as you think. I realign my front end any time I adjust the ride height front or rear.

    I've been told on more than one occasion by alignment techs that leveling the truck (removing the rake) makes it harder to get higher caster numbers. :notsure:

    From a straight geometric perspective, rake/caster is a one to one relationship. 1 deg of increased rake equals 1 less deg of caster. "Loading" the front from raising the rear negates this bit. To accurately describe "a bit" other factors such as "amount", spring rate, spring load at ride height and actual vehicle weight distribution need to be considered.
    Geometrically on an extra cab, just a hair under 2" rake (higher rear) equals 1 deg less caster.

    For Mr Bravo's case something is wrong, he should easily get in excess of "factory" caster spec unless his rear (no weight) is a foot higher than the front.

    Bump - did it help any? Did you ever get the + caster you were after? I'm having the same issue and now I'm wondering if I have a rake. I am running AP Expo leafs w/ King ext. and AP ucas.

    Hiya guys.

    The shop set an alignment to reduce wear and the tires have been wearing well. Granted they are 10ply. My old Revos ran for like 8 years with almost no wear since the truck is so light.

    I'm still not sure I believe the caster measurements the alignment shop showed. I think with the rear end being high and the fact that the computer wouldn't allow the entry of non-stock tire sizes might have something to do with the reading. In other words I still don't know if I have the caster I was hoping for.

    I will get the bed on in December.
