See, OP has the right idea going, but it is a completely inferior mod.

After all, taking up valuable cup holder real estate is a crime in and of itself.

Therefore, @Stocklocker I see your post, and raise you this:

    20190419_154515.jpg 20190419_154548.jpg

Snug fit, no rattling, quick access, out of sight, and protection from being projectiles in a rollover/crash without having to mount them anywhere. Boom.

Edit: I realize my pins probably need to be zip-tied/secured.

Aha. I’ve considered that mod as well, but what if your seat was on fire?

And in the event of an accident where you can’t fold down seat?
sometimes this worries me. Usually after trips to Taco Bell...

Naw, it’s not that bad - Id ignore those ads trying to sell other types and hyping the ABC ones. I had one under my seat and my old girlfriend set it off by accident. The cab was white with smoke from it and she was still trying to readjust the seat! I got her out and shopvacumed it. Truck was fine. Just dont cut your coke with the stuff.

It is a bad idea to attach mass to the headrest even if nobody ever rides in the back seat. It is going to increase the force imparted to your head in certain accidents. Get a bracketeer mount and attach it to the back of the front seat rails. Just as accessible without the safety risk.

I have an Amarex halotron extinguisher in the passenger seat well, does not make a mess of the engine bay.

I am a part time First Responder, after work,
nights and weekends. I have carried an extinguisher for years and never needed it and then again I've used one for everything from a fire in a flower bed mulch from a cigarette to a car on the side of the road.

Sadly the one time I truly needed one, I wasn't in my truck. A young lady trying to end her life on the highway purposely drove into a light pole. Combative though she was, myself and another witness were able to drag her from her car before it became fully engulfed.

The car was a total loss but the girl survived. In this situation, had we gotten to her but a minute later it would have been critical in averting disaster.
The "woulda coulda shoulda" would have eaten me alive on that one.

That said, OP thank you for this post, getting a unit for my new truck had been on my mind, just haven't pulled the pin, err, uh plug.
I'm glad to see some ideas on how/where.
    Anything is better than nothing.

Just curious on what type of accidents? I got in a t bone accident in my 4Runner going 50mph and walked away mostly unscathed. My head hit back into the headrest which had the same setup.

Ha......no one knows if I’m joking, and now I don’t know if you’re joking.

I’ll tell you what.......buy two large slurpees and see if they fit in the back door pockets. If they do, buy two fire extinguishers, and the mod is complete. I might consider charging 2nd Gen guys. It’s only free for third genners.

You know, I have to give ya props @Stocklocker

I went fire extinguisher shopping today. What if this thread (and TW more generally) saved a life?

It just might make all the poop joke dumpster fires worth it after all!

I try to redeem myself for a few too many shitposts on occasion. I meant well with this thread.

I’m glad you went out and bought something that might keep you safe.

I’ve decided I am going to charge 2nd Genners, but I like you, so I’ll give you a deep discount for being a tester. $15.00 seems reasonable. I’ll DM you my banking details.

So the question in my mind is did no one actually have an extinguisher? Or did no one like this guy....so they let it burn?

The fire got outta hand, but there was likely an initial moment when they might have got it out.

If this was in the woods, you would not have saved your vehicle, but you wouldn’t be stuck without a vehicle in the middle of the giant forest fire or grass fire you just started. Think on that bit.

Yeah more areas are holding you legally responsible if you or or your vehicle start a fire, getting sued would suck.
