I've heard of tow trucks hauling away cars with the alarm blasting away.

Sucks to hear about your loss. I've had a truck stolen and know the feeling ... it was a Chevy Luv truck, so the loss doesn't compare to losing a Taco ...

Yup, still nothing. Its been a week and nothing has turned up. Insurance co noted the plate has not crossed any borders, and my fasttrack has not pinged any freeways after stolen date.

yeah they told me that it has to be gone till the 7th till I get paid.
My frustration, is that replacing this car is going to be a total pain in the ass and they may try and give me blue book rather try and and acknowledge the difficulty of finding a toyota certified 15' trd or ac. Ive been sitting on craigslist daily and haven't seen one even remotely close. Same with the toyota dealer site.

no major mods, just pretty happy with a clean stock grandpa style truck. Just meticulously maintained, toyota care package, and a bunch of minor things- rugged radios, tools, nerdy organizational things for work. It is what it is. Back on the hunt for a replacement.

Wonder how they bypassed the chip key and other junk..

Some say they can progam chipp keys and be gone soon as there are only so many key cuts but many chip codes.

One repo guy showed me a key ring one time. One labeled ford, chevy and so on.
He said for current years he could open and drive any of the newer ones but that was several years back.

Wish we could deal with car thieves the way the old west did with horse thieves.

FYI: I saw a video where they just used a carpenters hammer to smash the locking mechanism and pull the box out. I stopped using mine after that... Made me wish that the truck had a key pad thingy on the door, so I didn't have to hid the key on the truck anyway...
Sorry for the loss and it should be a hanging offense just like the old days...

lo-jack... Had it on my civic and all 3 times retrieved. Except for one time they managed to strip the car in 2 hours.

So how do we prevent this? Especially for us that has the key FOB/keyless entry feature of our car? I've read over the news that stolen cars/trucks is on the rise?
