Well, I figure if my Wife can buy a new purse any time she finds that she no longer has room in the "Old one" (which, by the way, is always the same size, and they cost more than my exhaust would), then I can mod my truck if something breaks. :D

Scrap metal prices are tanking right now. Even the platinum in the cats isn't worth as much as it was just a few months ago. With lower scrap prices, this problem should take care of itself shortly.

Yep, it's happened to many people where I'm from, even in broad daylight. It only takes them about 2 minutes to unbolt the cat and rip it off. I feel a little safer now that my bolts are welded on.

Someone ripped off the cat from my father-in-law's 95 yesterday...what's with stealing the catalytic converter? Why do they take that specifically?

Also, who has a decent priced replacement? Dealer wanted $1700 to replace it...

It must be a pretty common thing, last week I was riding in my cousin's jeep and his rear U-joint broke, luckily close to a kragen, we drove into the parking lot got the part and began changing it in the lot and got rolled on by 3 cop cars. They said its been a big problem and they were a "task force" to crack down on people stealing cats. They had one cop from W.C. and another from Orinda along with the Concord PD so I'm guessing they weren't making any of it up.
