We should start putting "smile you're on camera" near our bumper bolts.

Then they would just smash the window and take the camera.

Plot twist, there is no camera. They trash your truck and light it on fire. Insurance still doesn't cover it.

I put one of this bolt on my coil for security reason... No one carry a 5 point socket out there when doing crime. Normal socket will not fit or wrench. Plus i sure 90% of us don't have a 5 point socket.. Looking for one of these is like looking for that one 10mm socket in that toolbox that suppose to have 10...

Nice Truck, surprised they didn't take the whole thing, the Mexico Border is only 120 miles away. It would be very much sought after down here.

Was thinking to use something like this to protect certain parts...

All I had in mind so far was those Mk1 Audi TT splash guard bolts.
Ordinarily, vehicles use some sort of easy hardware for plastic splash guards so you can quickly and easily remove it to change oil.
But for some reason, the Audi Mk1 TT (not sure if 4cyl or VR6) partially uses some big ass internal triple square bolts that I thought might work to secure Tacoma parts, if not any other size/dimension of triple square bolt (a tool not everybody has)
but honestly, 5 point is even rarer.

Not sure how they'd do it, besides a gunpoint jacking or a towtruck. I think 2nd gen Tacoma's have immobilizers.

Perhaps you should attach a Job Application or book to your Truck to scare them away?

Wouldn't be surprised if some have cruised this forum. The 'old school' practice of covering up license plates in photos is void, due to technology, but that same tech is making it easier for thieves to get a 'shopping list' of sorts. Think about it; Your name, city, pictures of truck might have intersections in the background. Threads of 'SoCal/NorCal' groups and spotting often have people talking about what neighborhood they live in.. It's too easy nowadays. People often forget their anonymity and let a lot more info out than they might think.

    okay, conspiracy rant over haha

ding ding ding! The age of social media works both ways. Both getting content out, and for others to see your content/habits/etc.

It is well established that thieves use open-source intelligence like social media, enthusiast forums, and especially real estate websites like zillow to plan big hits.
