The only problem with making things harder to steal is usually creates more damage when stealing lol! People who want something will take it. Making it harder will cost you more in the long run!

Tack weld the bolts on components, it will make it a pain to remove they as you will need to grind the weld off to remove them, but they will be safe.

I would put a clamp on your tailgate so it's harder to take off and lock it. I would make sure I had good full coverage insurance. Consider the minor losses as part of ownership.

Lol! Not saying that. What I’m saying is you can make this “thief proof” and if they want it they are going to take it no matter the damage it inflicts on your property. It’s better to put your things in situations to lower the chance of thief in the first place is all I’m saying.

Honestly, even if you don't move out of town, I'd at least find lodging that has secure parking.

Unless I had a roadhouse style DGAF beater car, leaving any of my hard earned possessions on the street is a no-go for me. The only resource Phoenix has is space. Lots of it. Find a little bit of space to get your car off the street, even at the cost of a bigger commute.

Or just accept that crackheads are gonna do their crackhead thing, and there's nothing you can do to stop it.

What about a car cover that fits your truck? It might be just enough of a pain that the scumbags move to the next one?

Our laws are to relax. People no longer worried if they get caught. Those petty thieves really serve NO jail time. Just too many of them. Released free with no bail, no consequence.

One helpful deterrent is a huge “monetary fines”. To replace a stolen “CATS” cost thousands of dollars , those that get caught the fines are a “joke”!

    1. Park truck in same place where the stuffs getting stolen
    2. Get pillow and blanket and your favorite snacks.
    3. You will need one baseball bat, one firearm (your choice) and a roll of rope.

Get in back seat enjoy the people viewing while eating your favorite snacks.
One dirt bag shows up shoot them in foot and feed them a bat sandwich.
More than one dirtbag shows up, shoot as required and its bat sandwich time again.

If a dirtbag dies, tie to rear bumper and drive around the neighborhood yelling out the window...... "Anyone missing somebody"?
No body claims them in one trip around block, leave tied to bumper and go home,..... your truck will be just fine from this day forward.

Understood.... was just joking. I had a 88 4Runner stolen years ago... had a spare set of keys  in the compartment between the seats so nothing got broke lol. It didn't make it far though.. it was on empty and had a locking gas cap. I came out ahead... the %^*$ crack heads left a half smoked reefer and a couple pieces of pizza! :woot:

    Oh look, another mod....
Maaaaaaany years ago I was struggling to finish college while working, so I was broke all the time. I could only afford an apartment in a VERY bad neighborhood. I lived there for just over a year.

    While I lived there I:

    1) Drove the ugliest, rusted up-dented up POS car I could get for a few hundred bucks. No one ever touched it. Sometimes I would not lock it. There was nothing in of value. (It was an 80's Plymouth with 3 hubcaps missing and 2 different types of tires).
    2) I didn't have nice things in my apartment. It was just a bed on the floor, a futon in the living room and a very old 13" tv......with rabbit ears.
    3) I dressed like shit.

No one ever bothered me, my car or tried to rob my apartment. They knew I didn't have anything. Maybe that's "part" of your ongoing problem? They see a nice truck and want stuff off of it, or in it.

There are truck cameras that works on motion 24/7 front and rear., research this.
Can you put cameras mounted outside where you park?
Can you install motion sensors lights high enough, to be safe?
Truck Motion sensor alarms? Can be annoying sometimes. Maybe alerts your phone.

    Off course a 24/7 security guard….just kidding.

I'm thinking more like make it so whatever they're trying to steal breaks so it makes it useless for them. After the first time they won't do it again because a broken part is useless for them

Man that sucks. If I walked out to my truck with shit missing I would be like wtf. There is no good answer (easy anyway) other than rent a garage which is usually not feasible.

I have not looked at cat shields but if they just bolt on, can’t they just bolt off?

+1 on the tailgate thing, there's plenty of threads on here for that. Honestly I'd try to move. I get the tight student budget thing, but try looking around at better areas with fewer shitbirds around. Apartments/mother-in-law suites, roommate situations are easy to find. Start with Facebook groups, classmates etc. Sorry this is happening, and it's honestly really bizarre that they'd go for your bumper and mirror. You sure no one's messing with you?
