I've seen this go sour too. Back in the 90s stereos with removable faceplates were a thing. Many anecdotes of thieves breaking in, not finding the faceplate in the glovebox (where most people stored them, yeah we were a bunch of geniuses), so they'd just wreck more shit. Because in a thieves mind, if you thwart me, fuck you.

Happened to me once. Someone stole my KC lights, got one but broke the other due to the security bolts I had on them, so they kicked in my grille as retaliation. Cost me three times as much as the lights to fix everything.

All reinforcing does is slow down your honest mechanic. To a thief standing there with a ruined panel, they'll kick in another because fuck you for thwarting me.

Again, the only way to stop street crime is to get your shit off the street.

When the law will not help on a trespass call (because they are under liberal orders) and tell you its a civil issue.....
....... make a civil visit and take care of it personally.

Laws protect the “bad guys”. No justice for small crimes anymore. Everything is base on dollars amount if under $1000.00 varies state to state, why would you put some one in jail for a small amount of stolen properties.?
It cost $35,000- $50,000 to house one prisoner a year.
Free housing ,meals, laundry service, medical, free lawyers, etc.

What is our recourse, we have to deal with going to court. Revenge from the bad guys and there families and friends. Insurance companies with $500.00 deductibles. Loss of time from work .
After there early release, we now have to watch our backs….

America needs to wake up. Make crimes, a crime! Today the innocent are the losers.
Your tax dollars pays for lawyers, prisons, court house, judges, police, etc…. What do we get in return..?

I'm tired of these things too, on top of that transients are at every street corner and I have to drive out of the way 10 miles to go to a gas station because cops there actually enforce no loitering law so I can pump gas in peace.

In all seriousness, any recommendation for where to move to?
    • No snow or no salt on the road (I'd prefer not to have rotten frames)
    • Strong law and order environment
that's about it, everything else I can suck it up.

I'm curious to see where people say.

i currently live in New Orleans. there's no snow here, but definitely a lot of panhandlers and such.
they don't really bother me at all, but that's because i look like one of them. lmfao, just wear your dirtiest raddy clothes and never shave. they'll leave you alone, especially if you stare at them and tell them to find their own gas station.

Add duct tape, Just in case (a few rolls)

If using rope tie each wrist individually and then both together. This prevents any shuffling back and forth and possibility of freeing one hand and ultimately both. same goes for the feet.

I recently heard a tip on how to not become a victim of a carjacking.

Do not congregate around your vehicle for an extended period of time.

I guess that's a practical tip, but you should be able to stand outside of your vehicle, with out some one trying to steal it from you.

If I had to be somewhere this shitty, I wouldn't bother buying a nice car. Get a fugly dented mechanically sound beater. Save money and have nice shit when you can move to decent place.

Well, true, but sometimes that piece of paper matters, depending on your area of study and expected place of employment. $.02

The only solution is to move out, but you said that’s not an option. So, the other option is to get rid off your truck, and get a crappy sedan. You win in many ways.

that homeowner must not have any friends or good neighbors. if that happened to my house or anyone's house on my street, we would get rid of those squatters. they wouldn't never bother anyone again.
