I have not, but many say a screwdriver and a hammer will defeat the key lock. SaBellCo and christian06 locks secure the hinge where the tailgate lifts out.

There are some inexpensive and easy things you can do quickly.
Washers on the cables will prevent it from being taken without the appropriate sized torx but requires specialty tiny washers (skateboard “speed washers” are readily available and easy to search for online. Support your local skate shop if possible).
A worm clamp on the passenger hinge is a much less secure alternative to sabelco and Christian06 style locks.
Each has its own weakness. The metal locks (Christian/Amazon) can be removed with torx and the sabelco can be defeated with a tube lock pick or hammer (so I’ve heard).
My argument is that you should make your tailgate as unattractive as possible so they move on to the next one. Any of the above steps will add time and effort for the thief and hopefully deter them with minimal damage to your property. Nothing will stop someone who is determined to get your tailgate.
You could always slap a huge unicorn sticker on it

    I like this set-up.

Installed the SaBellCo back in Jun 2022.

We can all argue that our idea is better than others, but any tailgate lock can be defeated by creative people. The idea is to put something there that makes the thieves move on to the next vehicle because it takes too much time.

There are alot of great solutions, but I'm the master at losing keys, so that's why I make the ones I make, no key, lol

Lately around where I am ( metro phoenix ) these door-cams have been capturing clowns with a firearm in one hand and
a hammer in the other breaking into vehicles. One of these days these clowns are gonna be confronted with an AR and when
they turn towards the owner with that gun-in-hand will be the last thing they do. I assume everybody in Arizona is carrying.
    I know I do.

I keep my gas cap lock & SaBellCo key on the same key-ring and leave it in the center console.

Of course, the SaBellCo is stuck and I would need to spray it to loosen it but I don't need to remove my tailgate for any reason.

I also have the OEM Tailgate lock.

I remove/reinstall mine every couple of months just to be sure it comes off. Or you could test the theory that a small sledgehammer shatters it ... :anonymous:

I fixed it for you. Not all unicorns are bad. This one is fierce enough it has to be chained. (Official Coat of Arms of Scotland)

I installed a SaBellCo lock in Feb of 2018. It is holding up perfectly (no corrosion, lock tumbler works well, paint (match to truck) in new-looking shape, etc.).
