So I’m interested.. did the guy have one of those padlock things on his truck? Otherwise, I thought the Tacomas and the 4Runners had the immobilized...

Started recently again thinking of a kill switch..

Not sure if the SR5 uses key or start button.
Too many chronics and the reason I'm looking for an alarm. Kill switches are easy.
Only if people know how easy it is to break open those padlocks.

Looks like an SR5 with H-Key. I wonder if they had the physical key or used another method? I didnt think anyone could steal them anymore without the physical key with the chip.

I've heard of a few 3rd Gen Tacoma and 5th Gen 4 runners being stolen around my area in the last little while as well.

That's pretty fucked up man ...
Usually chronics steal older cars and trucks for parts.

Back to researching a kill switch..
Had one in an old accord I had.. fuel pump kill.. sure, you could tow it, but definitely couldn’t start it.

This thing has already been used in a home burglary or two already. That’s why the ass fucks in Hawaii steal them. My cop buddies talk about it all the time. Then when their done they set them on fire

Curious to know how kill switches are easy...I really have no experience with them just genuinely curious. Always figured that'd be one of the best ways to prevent a thief from taking a vehicle (apart from using a flat bed tow truck). Assuming the switch wasn't obvious

Look for the fuel pump relay usually under the dash or kick panel . Look for the ground . Add switch to ground.
The 911 has both battery and fuel pump kill.
A simple thing as an led flash and siren will deter theft.

Hiding the switch is what makes it effective. The only thing is that it needs to be easy enough for you to operate it consistently. I remember a friend's civic, he had an alarm, fuel pump kill switch, and his ignition key just unlocked the steering lock, but to start it, he installed a small switch behind the cigarette lighter. So you had to push in the cigarette lighter to start it. Also, he would put that locking clutch pedal club on too.

Good cause that's all I have lol. Well supposedly my starter won't engage without the alarm being deactivated but I haven't tried that. Kind of want to get rid of that setup actually, worries me it might malfunction one day and leave me stranded somewhere.

Anyway, hope the guy gets his Tacoma back.

Yea, I hope so too. I'm always on the road so keeping an eye .
I've always had kill switch . No failure.
Just don't hook it to 12v and get a good small toggle switch not plastic Chinese made.
    Napa has good ones.

As other posted, the hard part is hiding the switch.

If someone stole my vehicle, I'd rather have it burnt than claiming damages done to it.
Long time ago had my car stolen at the zoo parking lot and found by cops behind Waikele parking lot.
ECU , stereo, change, floor mats stolen and front suspension fucked up.
Fuck tards. Fixed it and sold it.

My Benz got stolen. Used in a robbery then dumped on Kapaa Query Rd. All that was left was the floor mats and owners manual. Car was completely stripped.
