I'm surprised nobody has commented on this, two sets of tail lights taken from brand new trucks both at BART stations. Something should be done, I'm sure there are many more that just aren't members here. I fucking hate theives, it's seriously too bad we aren't allowed to shoot on sight, it would stop the problem immediately.

It's funny that everyone from Ca knows what you're talking about, but we aren't allowed to say anything.
It's true that 95% of the stolen crap threads posted are right here in Ca.

Something I have done already is changed the bolts to be a sunken star head-(correct terminology?) That was a simple swap. The sunken star however is the same type as what is currently used to secure the tailgate so if the thief brought his tools to steal your tailgate he will already be armed to steal your taillights. I think another member mentioned switching out to a security bolt? Similar to the star head but with that security nub in the middle. Unfortunately the feedback I have gotten is that while it may deter them the tool is affordable enough ($10) to just allow the thieves more time to switch their tools of the trade! The other issue I ran into when trying to locate the Metric 6-1x16 or (6-1x20 will work too). Would need in both flat head and button head-is that manufacturer's only want to sell them in a quanity of 100. It was suggested I check with Fastenal to see if they have a solution-or the parts to make this swap in a smaller quanity. Suppliers that sold the quanity of 100 I found online were: OEM Hardware, Eagle Fastener & Mutual Screw & Supply.
    Thoughts?
I would really like to stump these pukes!~

For the member who had theirs stolen from the San Leandro BART-we should catch up. Pretty close in geography & likely the sleuths (BART officers) have not made a connection. I have a case number and maybe we can tie them together if you filed a case with the BART officers. I know I was the 2nd victim at the time just from Castro Valley lot.

Antiphon-yes, Mark is the person on Craigslist who I purchased my replacement tail lights from. He seemed on the up & up-I made my husband go out and meet him & he was nice enough to have the lights hooked up on his truck to prove to us that they were working. Overall my question remains-where is the market for these parts? Are they stealing them to re-sell them? I am not seeing any other postings on Craigslist-or are they stealing them to upgrade/replace on their existing lights on their toyotas?

hey, man, RJ and I would be glad to set up a fund to help you get new tail lights (we recommend getting cooler looking ones) If you'd like, send us your paypal info and I'll start it off with $15 on Friday. A few friends of ours did this some time back for another SoCal member- 4WD- and it got him back on his feet in no time. It's just the TW thing to do. Tell me what you think.

Thank you Gregero for the kind offer. I think I am all set as I replaced my from the guy on Craigslist-however the other girl-Antiphon who lives near me is likely a candidate for your generous offer. As I mentioned $500 Toyota asks to replace them is a lot of money when faced w/ it being non-operational until it is resolved!

O you're girls? Fuck that then! lol just kidding! That offer is up to anyone who is in need here at TW. I think it's something we should do regularly when someone hits a tough spot. I'll send Antiphon a PM and see what she thinks. It would be really great to see TW get together again to save another member. We can send her the instructions on how to replace them so her boyfriend or dad can help her out with that part.

I can take a picture when I get home. They take the entire housing, but in my case left the whip (electrical connector).
