Stolen tailgate

nope they didn't want to pay for a new tailgate. my buddy with the taco had a camera on his as well so its a pretty penny for a replacement.

 

Yeah I had a camera too. Now I just see a black screen when I back up.

 

Why is tailgate theft so common over there? In my area it is unheard of (NE Ontario). I don't understand, every truck comes with one, why would anyone ever need a second one? Rear end collision? But then you need a whole bunch of other stuff replaced also, bumper, lights, maybe spare tire. Why is only the tailgate stolen?

 

Easy money is what I could figure out of it with little chance of having the owner be able to ID their tailgate being sold on CL. I've read that some people scratch codes or their VIN numbers on the TG so that if it ever turns up they can potentially claim it back. I just added a hose clamp to my tailgate, but I know it isn't tamper proof, if they want it, they'll have it though I'd like to see them try as my bed rug has 4-5 bolts attached and I back into 99% of the parking spots I frequent.

Dam I’m coming up on two weeks on Tuesday. Have you been checking out any salvage yards around you for it? I haven’t looked anywhere yet. I just want my dam tailgate back.

 

I been looking on offer up and Craigslist found some for 250
