Young doesn't mean stupid, or a thief thankfully. Don't spew that BS.

Put a hose clamp around the hinge where the door can be lifted for removal , grind the head so it is tough to remove - my solution to slow them down. I never lock mine - always forget.

The tailgate on my 2019 was stolen overnight on Superbowl Sunday. After going through the insurance and have the tailgate replaced, I added two of the gun cable locks as well as adding the washers to the tailgate cables.

The bolt is designed that when tightened down it will allow room for the eyelet to move around when closing the tailgate. The problem I was running into was that if you simply insert a washer and tighten down the bolt, the washer will put pressure on the eyelet and will not allow the cable eyelet end to move freely. After much thought I realized I needed the bolt to bottom out slightly higher to allow for the eyelet AND the washer to both move freely. Going through my storage bins where I have about a billion bolts, screws, nuts, washers, etc (I never toss extras) I found two lock washers that are the same circumference as the bolt bushing area. The washers allowed the bolt to bottom out slightly higher which allowed both the washer and eyelet to move around freely. Check out the pics.

Along with the cable locks, hoping the washer tricks deters those scumbag thieves from stealing my tailgate again.

Isn't the 18 have key fob lock? Or only on the tech package?

Hi All, Wanting to secure my new 2020 tailgate with something that will at least slow down the snatch and grab. Been thinking and searching .... Came up with 2 ideas ...

    1.) Buy this split mounting clamp for a mirror. (1 1/3" ID ~ $28?)
Change the screws to Security screws (better than nothing ...)

2.) Make the split mounting clamp out of semi hard plastic rod- cut to length, cut it in half, bolt it back together then turn on lathe ID and OD.

    Thoughts?

Screw.jpg OK Update ... how about this ?? Just change the screws to security screws ..

    https://www.walmart.com/ip/1-3-4-Bo...MItpr_r_7e5wIVD4_ICh0PJATrEAkYAiABEgLR7PD_BwE

Or in aluminum ... a little pricey though.

There are other sizes - I'll need to get a decent measurement - end user can bore out or add closed cell tape to close hole slightly ....

Perhaps I can make a few of these in plastic to just over exact fit ... ??

    Thoughts? Interest ???

    TIA
