Not looking good for my '15. I have yet to test drive a 3rd gen in hopes that my truck will come home unscathed. However i have to come to reality that it's not since the insurance is closer to paying me out. Ive been lurking the 3rd gen section in hopes for good reviews. I have read the caranddriver, edmunds and consumer reports giving that generation a 3 star rating. On the other hand ive also read reviews done by 4x4mag and offroadexteme which gave the truck great reviews. What should i do look for a like new 2nd gen or just go with a new truck and go with the 3rd gen?

Get yourself a low mileage 15 and save yourself some money. You know the 2nd gen. is proven.

Go test drive a '16 in the trim level you're interested in and see what you think. If you like it lots more than the '15, then go for it. There are many more of us that have had no issues that those who have had issues. if it's a close call in terms of preference and you feel the safe move is the '15, go with that.

I definitely will be looking to test drive one that I want but its easier said than done. Looking online on each dealers website to check inventory here in the OC is hard. The dealers around here dont have TRD OR or Sport in 4x4 DCSB. I might go off road this time and just trade hoods with someone for the skewp. I like the look of the 3rd gen OR, but if i go to '15 i will look for sport again.

Thought about it... but my specific set of skills are not on par.

So just an update. My truck has yet to be found. It will be one month in two days and my insurance has taken well care of me. They did it in a time frame that was satisfactory to me. If the truck is found my insurance company now owns it. I now have the burden deciding to go with a 3rd gen. Ive seen the post of mostly the bad and then finally some good ones. The only thing now for me is if CRAWL control is worth it in the off road over the look of the sport. Thanks for keeping an eye out everyone. Now on to the research.

I ended up buying a 3rd gen. The truck is still lost. So far I love the new truck. There are a few minor issues like the gear searching in cruise control but nothing that makes me regret buying it.
