It's when you are on the ragged edge, lose it, and have to make that split second decision of "rock or tree" or "jump or go headfirst over the bars." At that point, you have no other recourse except to choose what you are going to hit or jump or wreck. What's really funny was, 15 seconds back in time, you were laughing and having a great day!

 

At my old trails, we had a pack called “The Death Pack” because it was a moderate six pack lined with big trees. No room to bail to the sides and no room to stop between jumps. The last landing went directly into a landing with a 30 foot drop down to a tight berm into a jump between two other jumps and an 8 foot deep bowl. No room to bail and too steep to stop on the 30 foot downhill. Sometimes I’m surprised I survived that place.

 

It's a miracle I am still here. Seriously.
