Hey man im just busting balls. If toyota is replacing bolts, i would put money on it they got a bad batch. Hopefully your mistake will be a lesson for others and i truly hope the dealer fixes yours even after the mishap. Im sure they will.

Who has the Toyota corporate number to call and bitch? I've had my truck all of 9 months and it's been through three TSBs and now a recall. Hopefully this will fix the howling diff. This is not the legendary quality and reliability I thought I was buying. I want a free upgraded warranty.

So, the underside of my truck is covered in fluid film. Will simple green clean it off in order to check for a leak?!? I have the howl, but slight so far.

Damn...supposed to pick mine up on Saturday...and it's a long drive down there. I'm not gonna be happy if I get down there and I'm not able to take it off the lot.

Emailed the dealer earlier and asked them to make certain they performed the tranny fill level check procedure and also check the rear diff level before I pick up. Just emailed again to ask if the new truck was part of the recall.

It's not going to stop any dealer from selling a truck. If someone wants the truck, they will slap it on a lift and check the fasteners and then sell the truck

Just called toyota canada about it.
Girl asked how the hell I already found out about it as it shows when it was issued and it was only issued a few hours ago for Toyota canada.

But they have not determined which ones are effected yet but yes it is being issued in Canada.

Should we coat the rear diff with fluid to simulate a leak, just to get Toyota to change the gasket ?

I think this is bullshit though.

If its not showing but has noise they just retorque yet the reason its likely leaking is because it was torqued too much. So gasket is fucked either way. Each one should be getting a new gasket at minimum.

Doesn't help the dealer will likely deny any noise anyways. What a bunch of bullshit.

Simple green may wipe away any residue. Also no offroad vins are listed in the recall as far as I know based on who posted. May be that they haven't added them yet or don't think we're susceptible.

this sir is called fraud. Do at your own risk.

Serious. Gasket is probably going to leak soon after warranty is over anyways. $0.99 gasket is cheap insurance.

Hmmm, ok, but I don't see any vins listed, just model and date range. I think I will clean it, by the time the recall gets implemented if it's leaking it should have residue reform on the diff. Thanks, though for the input.

Speculation here, Maybe the diff howl is caused by the bad/improperly torqued fasteners holding the diff out of alignment?

Not saying it isn't ALSO doesn't change that fact you were wrong. Essentially calling the OP a liar when he is 100% correct...not cool.

?you Canadians are slow. We already have a broken diff bolt, let alone just knowing about the recall.
