Storing Old Tires in Bed

New Guy been on the forum for a while but never posted. Just changed out my wheels/tires and can only store them in the bed until I can sell them. Is it bad to keep them in the bed for long periods of time and will it have long term affects on the suspension.

 

Someone will steal them long before the elements fuck them up.

 

Not worried about anyone stealing them it’s parked somewhere where that won’t happen. May be a dumb question but I just changed out the suspension for a Toyotec lift and wanted to make sure it won’t alter the ride hight long term.

 

It'll be fine. They'll probably get stolen tho.

 

…why not stack them in your garage or if you don’t have one on your patio with a tarp over it .

There's a high likelihood that they'll explode from a lack of outside pressure without being hard mounted to something. You're going to need six 3/8" diameter allthread rods, a dozen fender washers, and a dozen nuts. Some drilling into your bed may be required.

He'll be fine. The truck's payload rating is like 1620 lbs.

Your good man. Depending on where you live, tires will take a while to dry rot.

 

If you're really going to store them in your bed at least give them a comfy blanket.

 

Mounted tires make excellent end tables when stacked and covered with blankets. If you want flat surfaces to put your popcorn and soda pop on cut out a disc of heavy cardboard to put on top of the tires.
Why no, my living room doesn’t look like a dorm room at a two year college. Honest.

 

Keep my spare boat and utility trailers tires in my trucks all the time. At least i'll never forget them when using the trailer. Truck has a tonneau cover.
