Can tires be stored away for a few years in a normal home garage without having to worry about dry rot or environmental damage?

I found a really nice set of wheels and tires (16x8 Moto Metal wheels with BF 265/70/16) but my current 265/75/16 Firestone Destination LE's have less than 6,000 miles on them. I didn't want to throw them out, and I doubt anyone would want to buy them from me for much either.

    Any suggestions?

6 years is their shelf life. look at the DOT and the last 4 numbers will indication their manufactured date. 1011 would be the 10th week in the year 2011

Gotcha. I guess I will sell the firestones. The BF AT look bigger even though they ate 265/70/16.
