I am pulling what's left of my hair out regarding which 15 or 16" wheels will fit my 1995 Tacoma 2wd which has 14" rims and takes 215-70 14 tires of which there are none available, I need to put snow tires on this truck and having no luck. Lots of Toyotas take 5 X 114.3 but hub size and offset are always vague. Is there any Toyota steel wheel that will work? 15 OR 16". Thanks

Most wheels with the 5x4.5 lug pattern will fit. I’ve seen wheels on 5-lug Tacomas from Mustangs, Lexus, Subaru, Hyundai, etc.

your issue is going to be the center bore. Tacoma is 67.1 mm, almost all other Toyota (and Lexus) that is 5x114.3 is 60.1 mm. They can be bored out to fit though. If you're looking for straight bolt on swap, you'll have better luck looking at other makes or even aftermarket wheels. I spent a lot of time figuring out what makes have center bores 67.1 or larger because I didn't feel like messing with boring the center out.

Dodge, Buick, Jeep, Hyundai, Kia, Ford, Subaru all have models that have wheels that will work. I used this website A LOT: It gives center bore, wheel size, offset.

I put 16"x8# AR Outlaws on my son's 93 2wd pickup. I think the tires are 225/60R16, but I'd have to verify that when he gets home from work. I did get the hub ring adapters, but if you use the, you can't use the centercaps.

So now we just put a tire on and hand tighten all five lugs before tightening them with a lug wrench. This is what we used to do in the tire shopsI had worked in. That way centers the wheel on the hub.

We have not had any vibration issues. I am pretty sure a 5 lug Tacoma could be done the same way.

Thanks everybody, the centre bore is 67.1 and am going to look at some Tribute, Escape wheels which should fit. The 17" off my 2016 GTI fit except the bore was too small. Again, thanks, big help.

You could always get them re-bored at a machine shop.

    Stock for now.. maybe
14 inchers are apparently being phased out. I just replaced my tires and there were very few choices. I didnt think about moving up to a 15" rim

Thanks everybody, I have found my answer, 2008 to 2012 Tribute and 2007 to 2011 Ford escape have a centre bore of 67.1 which will work, newer models are 63.4 so won't work. I tried the 17" wheels from my base 2016 GTI and same but bore too small. I just managed to get Toyo Observe snow and ice tires 195-75 14" from OK tire for under $600 Can. installed so winter is looked after, spring will find those 16" rims for summer tires.

You can get a 14 snow tire but you need to decrease the width. Try a 205

Overall, pretty good. I'm still glad I made the change, mostly just to put a quality tire with a good load rating on the truck. I will say that they're not light, but I'm guessing the quality of steel used is probably pretty low for this type of product. I lost about 4mpg and the truck comes off the line slower, but I came off of 14" alloys with cheap Les Schwab all-season tires. I hit 29mpg with my old setup. Moving to steel and A/T tires slowed things down a bit but I guess that's the trade-off. I've never driven a truck like mine with stock 14" steel wheels, so my experience may be a little skewed. Wish I would have weighed a wheel/tire combo on my old setup for more context.

When I moved up to 16s, I weighed my outgoing 14s and the weight (wheel and tire) was something like 32-34 lbs. My 16s are 42 ish if I remember correctly. I lost about 2mpg and a very slight decrease in accel but the tradeoff in not rollin' on 14s was well worth it!
