If you are looking for hub-centric adapter rings, and don't know the size of the rims you intend on using... get a digital calipers and measure out the inner diameter of the hub hole. That is your larger number required for adapter rings... ie. 60.1mm (Tacoma 5-lug 5x114.3mm) to 73.1mm (Jeep Wrangler 5x4.5") .. sometimes the adapter number for the new rims is rounded up, if less than +.05 of a decimal point... ie 83.06mm => 83.1mm

I found the link to Tacoma factory specs...
This "chart" is showing the offset for our 2nd Gen. 2.7 2wd as "ET34".

I've seen various posts saying our factory offset is between 40 and 50.

Does anyone have the official word on this?

16mm makes quite a bit of difference when choosing offsets...

I've seen it all over the map - from +32 to +45 ..

I rather suspect that the +34 figure comes into play, when referring to the X-Runner, which uses a 16 or 17" wheel with less positive offset, but shares the same 5-lug pattern hubs.

    Hey guys,
All this info is awesome but i think i need some clarification..this center bore and hub centric stuff is a bit confusing to me.
I have a fat bobs lift on my truck and have done the black box mod. Im want to get 16x8 Method NV wheels. Here are the specs:
    Technical Details
    • Wheel Size: 16x8
    • Bolt Pattern: 5 on 4.5
    • Offset: 0
    • Back Space: 4.5
    • Hub Bore: 83
    • Wheel Weight: 22.9
    • Max Load: 2500
    • Finish: Matte Black
Im thinking the biggest i can go for tires is 255/75. what would i need to do to fit these wheels? Spacer/ grind the caliper?

Hub-centric vs. lug-centric is easily understood. Hub-centric wheels are centered using the hub bore - which in the 5-lug case is 60.1mm. Other wheels are centered using the lugs. When the lugs are tightened they center the wheels.

Most aftermarket wheels will not have the same center bore as our OEM 5 lugs and are generally made to be centered by tightening the lugs. So, in your case, the Methods have a hub bore of 83mm which is obviously larger than our 60.1mm hubs.

You can get aftermarket adapter rings which will essentially convert your Method's 83mm hub bore down to 60.1 which will allow the new wheels to be centered on the hub and not just by tightening the lugs. Hope that helps.

I can't speak to how the 16 x 8 Method NV wheels will fit our 5 lugs. It seems that 90% of aftermarket rims will not fit without hitting the calipers. That is why I find this thread so useful. It gives us definite knowledge of which wheels fit and which don't. So far, it appears the Cragan D Windows and KMX Enduros fit.

Unless someone has tried to install the Methods you are wanting and has provided feedback here or elsewhere, I'm not sure there is any way to know without trial and error on your part.

I would think that are certain specs, which, if known, would allow us to determine which aftermarket wheels would fit without ordering them and trying them on our vehicles, but I don't know those specs. In other words, if someone measured the offset, backspace and other parameters of wheels that are known to fit (i.e., Cragar D Windows - which apparently barely fit), I would think those specs could be applied to other wheels to know if they would fit our 5 lugs.

But, unless we have those specs that we know will work and find someone at an aftermarket wheel house who is willing to take measurements of their wheels, it seems we are in for a "let's order a wheel and try it to see if it will fit" scenario. Seems kind of bassackwards to me. :notsure:

Maybe someone with better technical expertise could weigh in on this and help us out.

thanks for info Geranimo...i wish our 5 lugs had more bolt on aftermarket parts instead of having to going through all this hassle.

Thanks for the assist lol sorry I've been MIA. I purchased my wheels and tires from Discount Tire. I believe I paid about $380 for four Enduros and $705 for five (full size spare) BF Goodrich All Terrain 30x9.5x15.

No worries. That seems like a good price for four Enduros. Cheapest I've seen them is $116. Hopefully a good deal comes along. Did you get five KO2s for $705? $141 a tire seems like a smoking good deal. :rasta:

Another KMX Enduro straight bolt on - no mods needed.

Slight BB rubbing with the 235/75R15 KO2s...kind of surprised me b/c I thought the 235s would fit w/o BB mod...but no...slight rubbing halfway through a full turn...

I posted this question in another thread and I'll post it again here...

The new wheels have a larger hub bore than the OEM steelies. So, the spare will not fit on the spare tire cable end without falling through...

Any ideas on a solution for that?

Can you get a couple of pieces welded on to the ends to make it longer or just one long piece of flat bar.

Possibly. I'm going to have to take a closer look at it. Was hoping someone has had this experience and could advise.

Pretty sure the end is swaged on...

UPDATE 11-7-18: I just bought a pair of spacers with the OEM bore specs... slapped that beesh on the spare. Done.

30" tires bak tonneau lifting soon?
So i'm trying to find the right setup and part of it is $$ related and part of it is the want to go BIG :)
    I found these wheels: https://www.quadratec.com/p/tactik/...xdNxAGSgLOggyyQzSrTVPy5JM9y_oepBoCN-EQAvD_BwE
They are only $40/ea and seem to have the same specs of 15x8 w/4" BS. and free shipping :)
would really help open the budget up for better tires :)

    https://www.4wheelparts.com/p/trail...9642945278__aud-184680070636:pla-301496126816

These are also the same price/similar spec and they say on the site that they will fit our tacoma's...

Thoughts? The Cragers have gone up in price and are now about 75-85/ea.. so these would be significantly cheaper.

I’ve searched for days for the answer lol. And if anyone has pics please share with all info!! I have a 97 with the factory 14x6 steel wheels and want something different bad!

Spec wise it should fit just fine. If you are stock hight.

It may come close to rubbing caliper though. What I recommend is just order 1 wheels off like Amazon prime and try bolting it on. If it fits then order the rest. If not then just drop it back off ata a amazon pick up and there is no charge and you get your money back
