You need a guardrail to puncture the undercarriage for this to happen. That was the reason for that fire. Similar to puncturing a gas tank and it exploding. :bananadead:

Only a gasoline fire doesn't take 2.5 hours and 20,000 gallons of water to extinguish. Actually, the water doesn't put out the fire as it would for a gasoline fire. That's what it takes to cool the battery down below the self ignition point.

While running an errand I came up on a large Amazon box truck on the side of the road with no one around, or home. Looked like an ev type. It was still there about 30 minutes later when I came back on the same road.

mine recently flashed low oil out on a dirt trail. it didn't shut off on its own but i turned it off anyway and jumped out to see if i hit something.
mostly level road, no oil leak, plenty of oil, but it was 112 degrees out, in 4wd with the A/C on.
thousands of miles and even hotter days, so far so good.
This thread reminds me to locate the sensor and see if its got a loose connection or other issues.

    Work in progress
2 weeks tomorrow and this is the current situation. It’s been a roller coaster. Bad timing, we just bought a house and with that I depleted a good deal of savings. So I have been stressed over this. Dealership is in the process of a tare down to the point of failure. My warranty is not through Toyota but it’s a fidelity platinum package warranty “ which the tech says “is the best warranty they sell”
I almost didn’t buy it because “Toyota “
At this point all I know is the motor experienced a complete failure. They say it lost all compression blah blah. They did put me in a loaner car. Truck has about 72k and has been treated like a queen. I have been told that the warranty should cover this, but they asked for tare down to look for “exclusions” I’m assuming to find a way not to cover it. I owe 23k on this truck. I’ve made it a point to document every thing. I’ve kept tow receipt and rental car receipts before I was offered a free loaner. At this point Friday morning 13 days later I really don’t t know anything more and haven’t spoken to the shop since Tuesday morning. He told be 7 hours tare down time. And they were starting Monday which they didn’t because I saw the truck Tuesday when I picked up the loaner car. if this ends up on me I’m not sure what I will do. I should have pushed it off a bluff when it broke down instead of calling a wrecker

7 hours alone is a long time to tear an engine apart, and still not know what failed? Something doesn't pass the smell test.

Bug them this AM for sure. Some dealers suck at contacting owners especially if nothing in it for them.
