Really hope the extended warranty comes through, this kind of crap should never happen.

 

To the OP, this truly sucks and I’m sorry you have to deal with this stress and anxiety. Neither of these are good for your health.

My only concern is the dealer tearing down the motor to look for warranty exclusions rather than identifying the failure cause. They seem to be working for the warranty company rather than for you, the customer.

I hate to say it, but I feel like buying a warranty extension now. I’d hate to have a big truck repair bill when I have two kids in college.

I don't see why it shouldn't, as long it's still honored. The only issue I've ever seen with a warranty I've run into is trying to find a shop that will work cheap enough to do the job, or the warranty is no longer valid.

Does anyone know of an aftermarket ESP available?
I was under the impression you couldn't get one after the factory warranty was up?
I'm at 81k miles and considering getting one if available.

 

Because extended warranties, especially non factory ones, are insurance policies and insurance companies look for ways to deny a claim.

I don't know what I am talking about here,,, but just to keep everyone involved honest. I would ask the dealer and the warranty company, that when the motor is torn down, and a call (or however it's done) is setup to disclose pictures and information,, that I am notified and able to be on this call. NOT the follow up one,,,, I want to be on the first call with the exchange of information.

 

And after the third conversation between dealer and warranty people, they will contact you and include you: Telling you it's the first call. And they will have a nicely rehearsed response as well.

Another car carrier ship has been in thermal runaway, they are going to have to come up with better ways to transport electric cars.

3 weeks and 3 days. Not a peep for a week until an hour ago, they called to inform me that the service manager has been let go and me along with several others are collateral damage. He talked a good game. My truck sits untouched. Only this he did do is contact the warranty company. Never turned a single bolt to begin the tare down. I was told the owner or GM would probably reach out to me. Truly a total nightmare. They didn’t even know I have their loaner car.

 

By "GM" you mean General Manager, not, you know, the company. I must be slowing down because I had to look at your OP to be sure you were talking about a Tacoma.

Some days, if they put my brain into a bird, the bird would fly backwards.
