Yesterday. When I tried to lock the truck using the touch point on the handle. It let out a prolonged beep and did not lock. I made sure all doors were fully closed, and they were. I tried it many times. It did lock with the key fob (all doors). Unlocking it with handle worked, but even after locking and unlocking, the problem persisted. I then drove the truck about ten miles and the problem went away. It now works. I had installed a Bolt-n-Lock about a week ago, but that has been working fine. What could cause this? Should I be concerned?

Sounds like it thought the fob was inside the truck.???

I didn’t think of that, but it was in my pocket. Interesting.

Wait, my fiancé had my extra key in her purse and had left it in the truck (she had used them for the airport a couple of weeks ago). Mystery solved. Thank you.

Haha, sounds like that would do it.
It was trying to keep you from locking keys inside

Happened to me yesterday as well....wife left in her purse with the extra fob in the truck. I could lock with my fob but not the handle.

I have a question but don't want to start a stupid thread. For a 2016 Sr5 6 clys 6 speed auto trank is there a dumb key ? I go kayaking and canoeing a lot and swim, and I just know one day I am going to take the remote door lock key with me into the water. The engine requires a turned key to start . I want a key that can be soaking wet , and manual everything is fine .

Wow, the things you learn from reading forums when you don't read the manual. I knew the unlock was a function, I didn't know you could lock it too!

There is a small door key that you can remove from the key fob.

Oops sorry. I thought you had the push button start.
I would get a key cut for the door. You don't need a key with a chip. Just a regular key for the door cut.

Thanks that was the answer I was looking for. It's a 2 hours one way drive to the dealer . I own a bike that the key has to be near to start the engine, but you don't need any key so long as the fob is near, and the ignition switch isn't locked.
