My passenger side wheel was making a bunch of fun noise and this is what the inside of the bearing looked like after my mechanic took it out and replaced it...

The thing fell apart after he got it out!

Just curious, why it would go away in 4x4?

It loads the front cv in a way to where it doesnt oscillate within the stock needle bearing when going into 4x4 like it does when getting pushed by the tire.

So just an FYI, I put my truck into 4x4 and checked @ about 30 and it went away. Took it out and drove regular and it seemed almost completely gone or so minute It's hard to tell if It's there.

it will do that and come back eventually, that happens the first few time. then when you do the same thing it will stop in 4x4 but as soon as you switch to 4x2 it will start growling

Yes this exactly. I took it to the dealership and they told me it's my oversized tires, and act like they don't want anything to do with it. I know for a fact that it is this problem. What do yall suggest I do? Is there any way to insist that this is the actual problem and have them fix it for free under the TSB? I had 5000 when I first noticed, and now I have 21k. I don't want more problems occurring from this down the road.

@Mjordan you can email corporate which I did but I just told them ill install the bushing from ECGS and call it a day. though its out of my pocket. but at least I will know I am good and not having to worry about it when they put the TSB replacement and eventually it goes bad. and the more you drive the worst your wheel bearing will be and your cv shaft. that's why even though my truck is my DD im trying to not drive it as much as possible so I can fix this problem. I have the bushing just not the time to do it yet. but I know that my bearing will eventually wear, and I think someone on here on tacoworld, from Alabama some vendor has wheel bearing all pressed and greased ready to install for like close to 300 bucks and I notice he use all top end parts so ill end up getting that eventually.

If it were your tires, it wouldn't go away in 4x4. Mine was doing the same thing, they did the tsb fix, it went away. You may have to give them a hard time, but a tire noise shouldn't come and go like this noise does. Tell them to fix the thing.

I told corporate I will get the aftermarket installed cause the Toyota needle bearing is garbage and it will do the same thing again and they told me go to another dealership. but all the dealers here in WA are garbage and I know they will tell me that my truck is good so I don't wanna waste my time to deal with " its okay"

I just don't want to shell out $300 + service for something that they should fix. I'm due for an oil change so I will go back and bug them. I told the guy to expect me to bug them about it until they fix it and he just laughed like I was joking... He'll see.

I don't know why everyone says the tsb bearing is no good, I'm well over 15000mi since having the tsb done, with no issues!
If the tsb don't work for you, you can get the ecgs bushing done, but the tsb is free...:notsure:

im not saying its no good well Im assuming it is no good due to the fact it looks the same as the OEM one but shorter. but hey if it works for you then awesome but I been trying to get it done but they didn't get it done
