I installed my 3in toyotec coil lift and have noticed humming even after getting an alignment. At about 40mph the hum is at its loudest and is pretty irritating. I did not change tires or anything, just added a lift. What the heck did i do!!?

Do you notice any minor vibes? Sounds like you need to install a carrier bearing drop that usually comes with the kit. If it didn't you can get one from toytec.

Does it go away if you switch into 4WD?

That is the only vibration i really notice. I consider it more of a humming noise tho. But no, my kit did not come with a bearing

It isn't a bearing. Its a drop/shim kit. Just a few pieces and a few bolts. Goes on your carrier bearing and drops it to fix your angle towards the rear end.

Exactly which lift did you get? Post a link to the Toytec page. What kind of lift is in the rear? Add-a-leaf?

If the noise is constant, then it's probably not the front diff CV bearing. More likely to be rear driveshaft U-joint angles becoming too severe with the rear 2" lift.

EDIT: Beefed also sells a carrier bearing drop bracket that's more rigid and more aggressive than the OME one: http://stores.streetacos.com/-strse-1/carrier-bearing-driveshaft-vibration/Detail.bok It's also more expensive and built to order (so there's a lead time).
