Hey yall... stoked to have found this page. I just joined the Tacoma family this week!! I found a 2008 4x4 Ext. cab with 79kmi out of state and jumped on it. Automatic Trans

I drove it 500 miles home with no issues- and the following day I started noticing a strange issue that only happens every so often.

I will start the engine and put it in Drive, and the car will not want to drive-if i hit the gas it will start to go, and after a few seconds or so its fine... but it doesnt feel right. Its almost like the wheels are locked up, or the e brake is on.

I cant seem to figure out what it is... 90% of the time the car drives flawlessly. It was extremely well taken care of, almost mint condition.

please help! taking it to a mechanic this week, but want to know as much as i can before i go!

Was the E-brake on before this happened?
As in, It was on, you let it off, and then tried to drive?

Are you leaving the parking brake on overnight? They are known to stick somethimes.

Torque converter, or low on transmission fluid...

Does it rev, but goes nowhere?

Asuming the transmission is going into gear you may still want to pull the drums and check the rear brakes for signs of oil contamination or rust as that could cause them to stick.

Thanks! I think the transmission is going into gear fine, because it runs great pretty much always, this happened about 3 times so far. I can make it drive by hitting the gas but it def has to "work through" something to get going..
