Hello all! I recently did an oil change on my 2021 Taco OR 4x4 and after the oil change I started hearing a strange “knocking” sound from underneath the truck. Sounds like metal on metal and only happens when the I press on the gas. Knowing the Tacoma is a loud truck I still found the noise odd. No check engine lights or performance issues. Taco has about 50k miles. Never had an issue and no modifications to her. Stock truck with the original off road Goodyear tires from the factory. Any thoughts?

Did you pull the oil panel off of the skid plate for the change, or did you drop the entire skid plate?

Definitely check the plate and the spacers behind the plate.

Update. Checked skid plate and it is bolted on good. Might take to Toyota to diagnose prob if there is one. One a different or maybe even related note. I found water coming out of the middle of the exhaust pipe that runs underneath the truck where there’s a union. Not sure if this plays a factor.

Suppose to be an exhaust gasket inside to seal off that pipe junction, that its leaking.
