2023 Tacoma SR5, V6, 32K miles… last night my wife went to the garage (where my taco sleeps) and heard a clicking sound from what sounds like on top of 5he fuel tank. I went out and powered on and off from the cab, and the sound went away. Doesn’t happen every night, nor on any regular cycle…. Anyone help? I’ll be going in for my final “warranty check”, but this being so intermittent…. PS this is my first Toyota.

    most likely this:
    from owner's manual:
"Approximately five hours after the engine is turned off, you may hear sound
coming from under the vehicle for several minutes. This is the sound of a fuel
evaporation leakage check and it does not indicate a malfunction."

i did a search of the owners manual pdf for "noise". (full disclosure: i knew answer, was just looking for the wording :) )
there are many threads on your question. searching TW is a good start.
some (including me) have found doing a google search to be better than a TW search. site:tacomaworld.com "xxx"
also, free AI tools like perplexity.ai will answer your questions to an unbelievable depth. start using those if you have not already. part of what it crawls is TW.

edit: example...not sure how long link will be good for...and more than you probably want to know.

I experienced the same sounds and kinda narrowed it down to the rear drivers side, I loosened the gas cap and the noise quit. Then I went back to my manual and found the reason. But at first I thought, what the hell !!! Is there a squirrel under there somewhere, lol.
