Strange "Pinging" at low rpm's

    Mine jus started detonating/pre-ignition too and mine is a 13. Did the ECU update described in the TSB, problem solved.

    Glad to hear that fixed yours. I just ran premium until i supercharged the truck and then had to run premium anyway. Mine is gone now as well

    You know I asked the dealership about this and they claimed it was done years ago on mine.

    I just buy mid grade and don't worry about it anymore. Only other think I can think of is timing chain stretch.

    T-SB-0044-14 applicable to 2012 thru 14 Tacoma V6, need to have ECM re programmed to stop spark knock/detonation I have spark knock/detonation while accelerating when outside temp is mid 80s to 90..I would have the dealer hook up computer to confirm the update was done..It was a night and day difference for my Taco..2013, 4.0 with the oil filter in the correct (on top of engine) location !!!

    I ended up selling my taco after getting a 3rd gen 4runner. Haha, so I never got that fixed. :thumbsup:
